HypnoBirthing?

Hi ladies! I have made the decision to have a natural birth with my 2nd child and I was wondering if any of you have done HypnoBirthing or if you know anyone who has? I would love to hear some experiences. My dad is a hypnotherapist and I was wondering if I could learn the techniques from him or if I should go to the actual HypnoBirthing classes. I wasn't sure if the techniques are more specific to labor and birth or if anyone could teach you the self hypnosis techniques. TIA!!!

I loved hypnobirthing. But my DH learned some hypnosis techniques from a guy he works with that is a certified hypnotherapist and while I was in labor those helped the best. Having your DH learn some techniques will help you more than anything else. I did enjoy the tracks I got from hypnobirthing though. They helped me relax and prepare and also helped me sleep better in the later part of the pregnancy. You just have to find something that works for you and your DH and try to get your DH involved because he's the one that will be with you through your labor and delivery.

Thank you so much! All I hear is how great hypnobirthing is and I am really excited to do it. I wish I learned about it during my 1st pregnancy. I had pre-term labor though and didn't even prepare for childbirth so this time, I am going to be well prepared! Smile

I am doing Hypnobabies which is similar, but a little different than Hypnobirthing.

Here is a good review of both. The lady used to actually teach Hypnobirthing.

There are actually several differnt hypnosis for childbirth methods available. I used the homestudy course from Hypnobabies for my second pregnancy, and I am getting certified as an instructor for the Hypnobabies classes. In my first pregnancy, I read the Hypnobirthing book that you can buy in bookstores and listened to the CD that comes with it a few times. This was not enough training for me to be able to use it during my birth. Everything I read pointed to Hypnobabies being a much more detailed and in-depth class. It includes everything you need, including the majority of stuff you would lean in a regular natural childbirth class as well as in-depth training in hypnosis and a technique that allows you to still use hypnosis while moving around, which I think is SO important--for me, maintaining the ability to move was a big part of why I wanted a natural birth. You could probably come up with a good system working with your dad, but programs like Hypnobabies are created by people who understand BOTH natural birth AND hypnosis, and I think there is a big benefit to that.
