Hypnobirthing Info. Question

I've been interested in using hypnobirthing during this pregnancy and labor. I went to their website (hope it was the right one) and see that there are loads of CD's to choose from. I was under the impression that there was a basic CD and that you could add on other sections that you wanted. I may be totally wrong.

So how does it all work? Do you have to sign up for a classes as well? We live kinda out in the country and it looks like the nearest person offering classes is really far away so I'd like something I can just do at home. Are you supposed to get books as well? I'm really confused. I'd just love to have something that will help me relax and get in a peaceful frame of mind for this birth. Any info. you ladies can share would be great!

I got Hypnobabies, which is a different program than Hypnobirthing. Hypnobabies sells a homestudy course which I purchased so I could do it on my own time. It comes with a set of 6 CD. You can buy others to supplement if you want, but I have not felt the need to. It comes with books.

Kristen is right. If you need or want to do home study, you'll want Hypnobabies, not Hypnobirthing. I am doing Hypnobirthing and love it but it is definitely designed to be taught as a class--there is a lot that is not included in the book and CD.

I also did the Hypnobabies Home-study. It is pretty self-explanatory. It comes with CDs and a book that gives you information on how to proceed. And I got mine on Amazon. It was about $2 more expensive but I got additional discs, so I thought that was an awesome deal.

I'm also doing the hypnobabies homestudy course and it sounds like it would be a good fit for your needs.

Yes, check out Hypnobabies (www.hypnobabies.com). I used their homestudy for my son's birth and am hoping to get certified to teach their live courses, because my area is seriously lacking in childbirth education options (useless hopsital classes are all there is). If you don't have a any live courses for HypnoBirthing or Hypnobabies in your area, the Hypnobabies homestudy is a great option. I know it is kind of expensive, by you might be able to find a used copy on ebay or something if price is an issue. I think it is worth the money they charge for it. During my first pregnancy, money was a big issue, so I bought the Hypnobirthing book that came with a CD at a bookstore, but I wasn't able to learn what I needed to know about hypnosis for birthing that way--I found the Hypnobabies homestudy course much more complete and in-depth and it was exactly what I needed.

I have really enjoyed my HypnoBabies homestudy course., There are no courses available by me, either, except from the hospital. I started around 32 weeks or so, i think, and it has been wonderful to listen to the CD's for relaxation and the book is good, too. It has been interesting to learn self-hypnosis and hopefully I will get to put it to use any day now. Smile

I'm due in 4 weeks and this is our last child, so I am very willing to sell you mine once I give birth. I bought mine used, so the workbook has some notes from a pervious user in it, but other than that it is perfect.

If you do the complete Hypnobabies home study, you don't also need to take a live class. Smile The Hypnobabies site is here:

Thanks ladies. I knew I must have been looking at the wrong thing. I'll go check out hypnobabies instead.

Kristen--I would be totally interested in taking you up on your offer after you give birth. I'll remember to touch bases with you then. Thanks!
