I had an u/s today and other questions

And we have a heartbeat. I am still really scared after last time, but feel a little relieved.

I am so sorry about being mia. I had a sale in my shop over the weekend and it was nuts. I didn't set stuff up right and it stacked promotions. I sold a ton of stuff, but made no money. Possibly lost money and had to work my booty off. Sigh. Oh well live and learn right. Smile

So..... help me out ladies I have horrible nausea and well umm digestive issues. I am thinking about taking some probiotics and I know that Ginger will help with nausea, but do you all have any other ideas. I am trying to drink RRL tea because of my vbac, but i think it is making my tummy worse. :help1:

I'm glad the u/s went well and you saw a heartbeat!
My MW suggested cashew nuts for nausea but I've yet to try them. I don't know if she meant they were less likely to cause it or to help it? I've never heard anything about it before her. Sorry, I've really got nothing other than sympathy to offer as far as nausea goes. Hope it passes quickly.

Yay for a HB!! It's the sweetest sound in the world but it's nerve wracking when they're looking for it!

Bummer about your weekend sales. You may have recruited some repeat business!

Hmmm... nausea. I had a hard time figuring it out myself. I had to be very careful about when I drank liquids. I couldn't drink ANYTHING in the morning. When I could drink, extra extra cold beverages were best. You've got plenty of time to drink RRL tea. If it's making you sick, put it off. Ginger sort of worked for me but I quickly developed an aversion to it. Spacing out my meals helped the most. I even kept snacks on the nightstand and ate little bits every few hours! Bread worked well. For heartburn, I ate kosher dill pickles. They are the heartburn miracle cure. I tried SeaBands and they didn't do anything as far as I could tell. I did find another pressure point that did work (I think someone on PG.org mentioned it)! It's right under your nose and if you press on it and make the right facial expression you appear deep in thought rather than super nauseous. That one saved me a few times in meetings.

I am hoping for the repeat business too. One girl went and posted about me over on diaperswappers which is what caused the fiasco. I can tell you I wasn't sad about that though. LOL

by "well umm digestive issues" do you mean diarrhea? I had that with my second pregnancy pretty bad. I found eating less diary seemed to help with that. It got better after the first trimester.

sometimes sour stuff helps with nausia. I think the best advise is to just try to eat small, frequent meals to keep your blood sugar from getting too low.

Yay about the HB!! Sweet indeed.

I think I singlehandedly kept the cracker business afloat during my 1st trimester. Having something salty and starchy to nibble on constantly really helped keep nausea at bay--I would even eat a couple before sitting up in bed in the morning (DH called me "mouse wife" every time he caught me nibbling crackers in bed, lol) Ak Mak are really great--the ingredient list is very short and blissfully free of anything scary, they are bland enough to be great for nausea but tasty enough to be appealing.

Erin, that's so funny about the pickles. What a great idea! DH takes apple cider vinegar for heartburn, but pickles must operate on the same principle and sound much more palatable!

I developed a ginger aversion too (for actual ginger) but one great soda that really helped me was G.U.S. brand (stands for "grown up soda") ginger ale. They have it at Whole Foods and such. It has real ginger in it and is VERY light tasting--both in sweetness and in ginger flavor. It's a little expensive, but worth it when you're suffering. I loved it.

As for the sale, I think the repeat-business factor is definitely a great silver lining. That's exactly the kind of thing that brings me to a business and keeps me loyal! The thought that you can get sometimes get a screaming deal somewhere is a powerful one...hope it all works out as a positive balance Smile

Yes that is exactly what I mean. It has been awful. Sad

I had diarrhea too right at the very beginning. I took Immodium once and it changed to constipation and never changed back (although it did normalize eventually). Not sure which is worse...I think it's definitely true that it will probably clear up (or switch) on its own pretty soon, though. Along with some mysterious hormonal swing, I'm sure...glad you're feeling good now at least! Smile
