I'm sure this has been done before... but...

I want to know two things...

1) how did your pregnancies compare symptom wise, and does there seem to be any correlation to what you had (boy/girl)?

The reason I ask is that I have had an almost symptom-less pregnancy as compared to my first with this second so far, and therefore everyone is saying, 'It's a boy! It's a boy!' I'm not going to find out, and it doesn't really matter (I'd love another girl to have sister close in age, but, a boy would be fine too)... but I'd like to hear if you had distinctly different or similar pregnancy symptoms based on what gender you were carrying. Just for fun.

And 2) When did you deliver each of your babies?

I went at 39w2d with my DD (and as a NCB-minded FTM, I was SO ready to go to 41w at least, it really took us by surprise!), and I keep thinking I'll probably go early again... BUT, my SIL delivered her first naturally at 38w, and then her second naturally at 42w, so I keep reminding myself that going early once is no guarantee!

Again, this is really just for fun, to hear how it's been for other women!

DD1 was a reasonably calm pregnancy up until delivery. And I labored 12 hours before begging for the epidoral. I wasn't progressing. Even with Pitocin. My body just isn't built for baby delivery according to what the nurses told me. So I think at that point I was thoroughly fed up with the process.

So far with DD2 my pregnancy seems to be the exact opposite of the first pregnancy. Both girls, so I am not sure if I would hold much faith in the wives tales. I have symptoms that I never had with DD1 and am on more meds. Plus I got HUGE this time, and last time I had a flat stomach with absolutely no stretch marks up until I went over due.

DD1 was almost a month over due, which I blame very poor attention from the doctor on. Every time I went in for 3 weeks towards the end he insisted I was 38 weeks, how do you be 38 weeks for 3 weeks?

Wishing you the best of luck on your bundle of joy!

1) how did your pregnancies compare symptom wise, and does there seem to be any correlation to what you had (boy/girl)?

My boy pregnancies were symptom free but for cramping very early in PG and heartburn. My boys were much more active in utero than my daughter. I gained more weight with my boys (35 and probably almost 40 with my 3rd) vs only 27 with my DD. I know that they say that girls steal your beauty, but found that I looked and felt best when carrying a girl vs a boy. My daughter I felt more nauseous, though that could be because I was nursing such a little baby so frequently, not sure. I was bigger and way higher with my boys, my DD was low like a bowling ball (though that could be as it was such a close pregnancy to my first). With my boys my linea negra went all the way up to my ribs, with DD it stopped at my belly button. My boys both had huge heads and very long troublesome deliveries, my DD flitted right out. I felt sure what I was having with each baby, though we never found out, and I was right each time.

And 2) When did you deliver each of your babies?

Both pregnancies were similar with symptoms but they were stronger/worse with DD. That could have been because I was chasing a little baby around though!

I delivered DS at 38w4d and DD at 38w3d. DS was a SROM to start labor with about 6 hours of hard back labor and 2 hours of pushing and DD was a very gradual labor for 5 hours, then hard labor for 3 hours and 10 minutes of pushing, AROM and then another 10 minutes of pushing. DD's labor was slightly longer in hours, but much easier on my body.

Going early is no guaranttee, that's for sure, but there are some women that always go early, you could be one of them. My MW thinks I am as I seem to bake my babies fast, they come out with fast labors and no issues on arrival. When we decide to have #3 I honestly will expect to go around 38 weeks.

My first two pregnancies were fairly similar abut this one was so different. I was nauseated up until about 20 weeks, with my other two it vanished first week in the second tri, and I was so tired with this one. Like could hardly function. I also gained weight different, not faster or slower, it was just different. With all of that I thought for sure it was a girl, especially with me being so anemic. But it's another boy as far as we know, either that or a REALLY tricky girl. lol.

My first I delivered at 41 weeks-induced so I have no idea how long I would have gone before finally going into labor on my own. My second was born at 39 weeks 2 days. I'm trying to prepare my mind to go late again and ignore my feeling that I will go early because I know anything can happen.

My pregnancies have been fairly similar.

sick - very sick from within a few days of getting a BFP. #1 sick until 9 months #2 sick until 20 weeks

cravings - could hardly eat anything #1. I think I lived on orange juice, peanuts, pineapple and pretzels. This time no food aversions.

spotting - #1 light spotting for weeks 7-9 SCH diagnosis. #2 heavy bleeding weeks 6-11 no known reason

movement #2 was way more active and would wake me up

blood pressure #1 I had very low BP issues weeks 22-32

weight gain - almost exactly the same week by week. I took measurements and they were pretty close.

DD1. 41w3d labour 8 hours; 20 minutes of pushing

DD2 33w5d water broke at 33 weeks. 90 minutes of labour, 1 push

1. All of my pregnancies have been pretty much the exact same. All I have had about zero symtoms. I have a boy and a girl and #3 is a surprise (although I have the feeling it is a girl)

2. With my first I went into labor at 39weeks 3 days, like you I was SHOCKED as I really expected to go over. With #2 I was 40weeks, 2 days, and it acutally felt like I was 42 weeks! Foolishly I expected to be early again so going past my due date just sucked! This time I fully expect to go to 41 weeks so I hope I can be very calm at the end and not even think about it! My advice would be to keep telling your self you are going to go to at least 41 weeks!

I have one girl & one boy. Both of my pregnancies were pretty much symptom free -- no nausea or heartburn or any of the other usual stuff -- although with Weston I suffered from burping & stinky feet the whole time. I knew Tiven was a girl from the start; with Weston I was hoping for a girl but not really surprised he was a boy.

I gained a bit less weight with Weston but I was carrying him in a way that made my belly look bigger. Tiven was kind of all around my middle, Weston was all out front. I got no stretch marks with Tiven except for a few after my EDD; I got lots of them with Weston & I also got a linea negra with him that I didn't have with her.

With Tiven, I went to 42 weeks with no labor. I had three sets of three contractions each in the last week, that was it. Nine contractions. She was an emergency c-section after a cord compression that, thankfully, occured while I was at the hospital being monitored because I was overdue & had low amniotic fluid earlier in the day.

With Weston, I started having some practice contractions around 37 or 38 weeks, which absolutely delighted me! Blum 3 I went into labor at 40 weeks 6 days, and I was in labor for three days so he was born at 41 weeks 1 day.

I'm pregnant with my 5th and so far I've got 2 boys and 2 girls.

With the boys, I was sicker. More nausea. More fatigue. I'm guessing this one is a boy.

With the girls, I felt pretty good.

I get wicked heartburn with all of them Sad

I carry them all the same. Right out front, so that you can't tell I'm pregnant from the back.

As for due dates, officially I've been:
DS1 41 weeks
DD1 40 weeks 2 days (but this was an u/s edd, she looked earlier)
DS2 40 weeks
DD2 38 weeks 3 days (totally took me by surprise!)

So, I suspect the trend is actually girls earlier than the boys.

I have a girl and then 2 boys. My first 2 pregnancies were mostly alike (easy!). Third one was the hardest. I had symptoms with my first DS that I blamed on his male hormones in my body (severe excema) which I never had with my second DS. So there was absolutely no correlation between gender and pregnancy symptoms for me!

Gestations they were born at:

DD - 39w5d
DS1 - 38w2d
DS2 - 35w4d

My body seems to cut pregnancy shorter every time. Means we most likely won't have any more kids. We're just not comfortable taking the chance that we will end up with a very premature baby next time around.

I was pretty sick with both my boys during the first and a little into my 2nd trimester. I was more sick with DS2 than DS1. I didn't gain very much weight with either, craved lemons daily with both, averisons to meat, and had that first trimester tiredness as well. I had bad heartburn with DS2 but don't remember having any with DS1.

Number 3 is a suprise so I can't compare in relation to gender. This time around though I feel great and only had a little nausea for about a week at the end of my 1st trimester. I've been a little tired but not like the other 2 times. No cravings or aversions really to speak of either. I'm carring much smaller this time (started this pregnancy with less weight) and weight gain so far is about the same. I am beginning to wonder if nursing during this pregnancy has anything to do with feeling so different.

DS1 was born at 38w5d
DS2 was born at 40w1d

I can't really say that my symptoms varied according to the baby's gender. Nausea was definitely the worst for me when I was pregnant with my twins (2 girls), but even though I remember feeling miserable during the first trimester, I was never a barfer. With all my pregnancies combined, I've probably vomited less than a handful of times from morning sickness. The nausea seems to get slightly worse for me with each subsequent pregnancy, though that might just be my imagination, or due to the fact that it's harder to be pregnant and deal with any unpleasant symptoms the more existing kids you have to take care of!

My babes were born at the following gestations:

Kevin (1/10/97 vaginal hospital birth) - 39w5d (induction, though I believe I was already in early labor)
Joey (7/2/02 vaginal hospital birth) - 39w4d
Annabelle & Daisy (9/22/04 - vaginal hospital birth)- 37w5d
Lilah (10/3/06 home birth) 41w3d
Finnian (7/7/08 home birth) 38w3d

DS1, i felt almost "car sick" from about weeks 7-12, threw up less than 3 times. no real food cravings or aversions, though i could eat citrus any time of day or night Smile later in pregnancy (~28-32 weeks), i had extreme poly-hydromanos (excess amniotic fluid), but it resolved itself completely by 34 weeks. also, i carried him entirely out front.

DD, threw up a couple more times, i didn't have poly-hydromanos and, though i still carried her far out, my weight gain was slightly more even.

DS2, i never threw up with this guy, but i did have really random food cravings (like, for hot sub sandwiches from quiznos...) and have also carried him far out -- my mom said with DD, my face got "full" but hasn't this time...also, i'm measuring ahead, partly due to fluid, though they've not officially said "poly-hydromanos."

I have one girl and one boy, and my pregnancies were very similar. There definitely wasn't anything symptom-wise that seemed to be related to the sex of the baby.

With my daughter, I was induced at 41 weeks. She was 7 lbs 6 oz and 20 inches long. My son came on his own at 40 weeks 6 days and was 7 lbs 6 oz and 21 inches. Apparently if I give birth right around the 41 week mark, I have a 7 lb 6 oz baby. I thought that was funny!

I was more sick with each pregnancy...with the girls there was little to no morning sickness and with my boys, especially my last, lots of it! I had lots of cravings with both genders and what I was craving was different with each pregnancy. With my first son I craved a lot of the stereotypical 'boy cravings'...meat, potatoes, granny smith apples, ect but with my second son it was all over the place and I did end up craving sweets too. I had a lot more food aversions with my boys. The biggest thing for me was with my girls I swelled so badly, I gained weight everywhere and it was definitely noticable in my face....with my boys not so much. I had great skin and hair with my boys too. With my girls my skin broke out so bad! I had heartburn with them all, the girls heartbeats were high, my first son's was low...and my second son's was high! In the hospital with him I had several nurses ask if I was having a girl. If we hadn't found out his gender I would have guessed girl just because that's where it seemed all my symptoms pointed Lol definitely all boy though.

I had my first at 34w5d, second at 35w even, third at 36w4d and my 4th...who knows? I was positive on my dates with #1 and #3. #2 was probably right around 35w but they had me at 36w4d with #4 and I just do not believe it. I think I was closer to 38-39w. Either way I went longer with each pregnancy, which in my case was a good thing.

I was really sick with my first two girls. I lost weight in the first trimester, threw up all.of.the.time (like 3+ times/day) and was generally miserable for the first 20 weeks of my pregnancies.

With my son, I was much less sick-- though still puked every day, but it seemed to not linger as long. And it went away about 12 weeks.

My third dd I was more sick than with my son, but less sick that with the first two.

This time? Eh! I have no clue-- and I thought I'd be able to tell. With all of the others I began getting sick at 6 weeks. This time I was nearly 8 weeks before I puked. And I've wanted salty/garlicky/ citrusy foods-- not so much sweets. I suppose only time will tell....

My pregnancies lasted:
DD1 40w4d
DD2 40w3d
DS1 40w1d
DD3 40w-- due date baby!

my pregnancies were fairly similar as far as morning sickness, symptoms, etc. (both were boys)...that said, a good friend of mine was super sick the whole 9 months with her first then wasn't with her second (she was convinced this meant the second was a girl, since her first was a boy...nope, another boy)

I was like you, as a FTM wanting to go natural, I was ready to go past my EDD. DS1 came at 39w5d...so I figured my second would be on time/a little early... nope, he was 3 days late based on LMP, 7 days late based on when I think I o'd. so not sure exactly...but 3 days past the MW's EDD.

basically, i am convinced you can't tell based on anything lol

1st pregnancy (boy)--nauseated til 18 weeks but rarely vomited, craved sweets and carbs, started showing early with a low baby bump, carried low and straight out front, dark linea negra, felt baby kicking at 14 weeks and felt strong and vigorous movement for the rest of my pregnancy.

2nd pregnancy (girl)--vomited 4-6 times per day til 16 weeks despite trying every natural and pharmaceutical remedy, had lots of other early pregnancy symptoms i didn't have the first time (metallic taste in mouth, constant need to pee, moodiness, acne, etc.), started showing later and am now carrying very high and wide, no linea negra (yet), craving dairy and fruit, didn't feel baby kick until 19 weeks, and still only feel gentle movements.

i went into labor at 39w 3d with DS1. labor lasted 24 hours and he was 7lbs 1oz.

i would love to go into labor with this pregnancy between 39 and 40 weeks! but i am telling myself it could be 41 weeks (pretending my due date is march 15th instead of march 8th) because i don't want to get impatient. with DS1, i knew my due date was accurate because i knew exactly when we conceived. this time, i have no idea and it's possible that i ovulated late and am actually up to a week behind where they think i am based on my LMP.

Five pregnancies varying from hardly sick to very sick. All girls. My first and third pregnancies were alike. My second and fourth pregnancies were alike. This one is similar to, but a little worse than my fifth.

My first was induced at 39w4d.

The rest were spontaneous:
2. 38w
3. 37w
4. 38w4d
5. 37w5d

all 3 of my pregnancies have been nearly exactly the same and all 3 are boys...

ds1 came at 35+3 due to pre-e
ds2 came at 40+3 thanks to castor oil lol
ds3 will come when he decides (hubs asked me not to use castor oil this time)

1. DS1 - My first pregnancy, I felt great! I wouldn't have even known I was pregnant if I hadn't missed periods and took a test. I gained 30 pounds, and my belly was pretty little. I had no cravings or anything! Definitely thought it was a boy from the beginning.
DS2 - My second was pretty similar. I was a little more nauseous and tired, but nothing major. He was much more active than DS 1. Had major boy vibes.
Current pregnancy - I've been very sick up until recently. If I don't get a nap during the day, I am asleep by 8. I've had a lot more cramping, and have popped out pretty early. I just feel different. Of course, everyone keeps telling me it's a girl. I've had really strong girl vibes from the beginning, so I'm excited to see if its a boy or girl.

2. Pregnancy 1 - 40 weeks 2 days
Pregnancy 2 - 40 weeks 2 days
