Joining in!

Hi ladies!

I'm Angela and I've lurked on this board since I joined preg.org in 2005 (May 2005 I think). I am planning a natural childbirth sometime in April or May this year...I'm due May 10th, but baby #3 came at 38 weeks on his own, baby #2 at 39 weeks and my first came at 41 weeks. So who knows when I'll deliver this time!!

I'm always wanting to contribute to discussions, but decided to introduce myself first! Like I mentioned, this is baby #4 and was a HUGE surprise because my 3rd child is only 10 months old Wink I also have another son that is 6 and a daughter that will be 4 next week, along with a step daughter that is 11 and step son that is 8. I currently work as a medical assistant in a pediatrics office, but plan on quitting soon. We are now able to live off just my husband's income and taking my youngest to daycare makes me so sad!

I've never had a completely natural childbirth. My first came close...I was given pitocin initially, but never received an epidural, etc. I received pitocin and an epidural during delivery #2 and just an epidural during #3. I know my body and know that labor is manageable without anything, so I'm going med-free this time.

Well, that's me in a nutshell. I look forward to participating!!

Hey Angela! Welcome. I'm glad you've decided to join in. I look forward to getting to know you. Are you doing Hypnobabies or anything?

Welcome, Angela!

I'm not into hypno-anything, but, I def believe in having an arsenal of strategies at the ready for the point when you would otherwise get the epi. I took a "best of natural childbirth" class and had a doula and it was a wonderful, totally natural experience!

I am actually. I mentioned this to DH tonight and he thought it sounded neat. He's on board for whatever Smile I need to start doing some research about it though.

That was my biggest problem with delivery #1. I knew I didn't want an epi (just the thought of not having control scared me), but I had no plans otherwise. I had an amazing nurse that talked me out of the epi when I considered it. I was so unprepared for the pushing that it took 2.5 hours of misery because I didn't know how to focus myself. This then caused me to opt for epis with births #2 and #3. When looking back and examining the birth stories I wrote after each, I am learning my mistakes.

Hello and welcome (officially) Angela! Your story sounds a lot like mine, two step children and four of my own! The only part that I wished matched was me being able to stay home with them all lol! Congrats on your pregnancy, I look forward to reading all about it!
