    Default Jumping in!

I thought I would introduce myself. I have never posted on this board before, although I've been a member of this site for a few years.

Before I got pregnant, I always knew that I wanted a med-free, intervention-free birth. When I got pregnant with my son and told people of my plans, I got so much negative feedback! I couldn't believe what some people would say! "Oh, just wait...you'll be begging for an epidural!" Of course, that made me nervous since he was my first and I didn't know what to expect!

At 40 weeks 3 days, I went into labor. I started having contractions. I labored at home for 9 hours and then made my way to the hospital. When I got there, I got checked in and was 10cm dilated and ready to push. After almost 13 hours of labor, and pushing for 1 hour, my beautiful baby boy was born! Parker was 9lbs 9oz and 21.5 inches long. It was such an exhilirating experience and I knew I wanted to do it the same way again!

With my daughter, I knew what to expect, and since I did have a med-free birth already, people were not so quick to judge and make comments! I knew I wanted the same kind of birth as I had with my son. At 39 weeks 1 day, I was making dinner and my water broke! Totally different than what happened with my son! I labored at home for only a couple of hours, but I was feeling a lot of pressure and pinching and it scared me, so I went to the hospital and labored there on the birth ball and walked around a lot. After 11 hours of labor and 20 mins of pushing, my beautiful baby girl was born! Madelyn was 9lbs 5oz and 20 1/4 inches long.

Both of these birth experiences are exactly how I wanted them. I have a wonderful midwife who sees eye to eye with me on everything. She is very hands off and they let me do everything myself. I love being able to feel everything and be in control of everything and I plan to do it again one last time for our third baby. I'm very excited to experience natural childbirth once again.

I can't wait to get to know all of you!

Welcome! It sounds like you're a natural at NCB (heehee). I'm a FTM and planning to go all natural. I really love to hear about other FTMs that were able to have a natural birth - it's very encouraging.

Congrats and Welcome! What lovely birth experiences. A lot of people just don't understand natural birth. Don't let it get to you.

Congrats on number three and welcome!!! With your first two, did you prepare yourself formally with anything like hypnosis training or did you just go with the flow?

Thanks for sharing your story! I'm brand new to this board and expecting my first in April! I've always been interested in natural childbirth and have heard the same things you have for years. The majority of people just don't get it. I know one woman who's done it naturally and she's been an inspiration to me. I look forward to doing it myself soon. I guess it's just one of those things you have to be passionate about to understand.

    Thanks everyone!

No, I didn't prepare myself in any way other than going to a childbirth class and learning a few breathing techniques. That's about it!
