I have several friends who have had hospital births lately and one who is due 5 days after me and the more and more I hear about their doctors and what their doctors are encouraging and leading the moms on about, makes me so glad I'm not doing that again! Seriously, the friend that is due after me, this is her first btw and a boy to boot, she feels she will go early and her doctor hasn't prepared her to possibly count on going late. I know mothers intuition can be correct, it was for my second, but my first was off by 10 days for me and when I went past my "due date" I was an emotional wreck. I'm so glad to have a provider that actually tells you to prepare for going past due, especially first time moms. Not to mention the whole big baby card, your hips wont spread enough, or the going past due will kill your baby card I've heard a lot of lately. Oh and my personal favorite, "you don't want to be pregnant forever do you?"
Those are just the few things I can remember right now. I can just hear what a doctor would have said when I declined the GD test, but my midwife didn't bat an eye at it.
Love my midwife!
