    Default Met with the Midwife

My husband has been going back and forth about doing a home birth. After meeting the midwife, my husband told me that if its really important to me, we can do it. See his concern is that we have insurance that will cover 100% of a doctor/hospital birth, but not a penny for midwife/home birth. And we don't have birth centers around here. But since its important to me and baby is due at tax time, he's on-board!!

The midwife was great! I really felt like we clicked, even DH liked her. She was totally open to being as hands-off as I wanted. Her fees were reasonable. It all seems to be coming together. I am so happy!

How exciting! I'm glad the meeting with the midwife went well and your DH is on board! The financial aspect of it is a pretty common hang-up for husbands, so that is wonderful that he sees that it is important to you and is willing to spend that money for your birth. If you think about it, a baby is only born once, so it's really worth it to invest in it being the best birth possible.

That is great you met with the MW and your DH is on board! We had to pay up front and will hopefully get some reinbursment after the birth from insurance. It is a lot of $ to swing but I know it will be worth it. I just tucked away a few hundred every month for the birth so it was more managable. I'm glad you clicked with your MW as well!

Hooray, that's great news! Totally worth the investment to get the birth you want. I guess we're lucky to not have maternity coverage in our insurance at all- greatly simplified our choice

I'm glad your meeting went well! We couldn't afford a home birth this time around but I'd really like to next time if we're in a place to do so financially. Although, had it been a choice between a hospital birth or a home birth (we did a birth center) we probably would have made it work somehow.

That's great he's on board! I know if our insurance would have covered 100% w/o our high deductible it would have been much harder for me to convince DH. Thank goodness he not only liked the midwives we chose but it's still cheaper since our deduct is $5K.

    Thanks ladies!
So we have the midwife. A 2 day home birth class next week. Then what? Do I just wait around for B-day?

Yep. And you probably will have a list of supplies you need to gather.
Which reminds me, I need to go through what I have and order my birth kit.
