midwife problems continue.

I still don't have an official spot or appointment with the midwife. I will just see my GP in the meantime until I figure something out.

However, yesterday my DH talked with a mutual friend of ours who is a midwife and told her I was pregnant (we haven't announced it publicly or on FB yet). She literally just graduated from the program a few weeks ago. I don't know her well, she's in our extended circle of friends. She lives in my city though and she did all per practical training at the midwife clinic I want in on. She unfortunately didn't get a job with them though, but I think she tried.

She did, however, pass on some inside info since she knows them there. First, due to demand they just hired a 3rd new midwife this week so they should have room now. Also, they are good people there, but they can be very busy and a little unorganized at times. She said to call and keep on them about getting in and to make sure I profess over and over my dream to have a home birth as that should bump me up any waiting list they have (they take those who want home births over hospital births first).

So, still waiting but at least I have an inside connection. I plan to leave them a message today and follow up again tomorrow. I'm a little less worried now.

Good luck, Rachael! For a whole bunch of reasons, I've finally just chosen a midwife for my homebirth, and I'm due in 8 weeks!! So don't stress, you'll find the right birth attendants. Smile

Thanks. I finally just say back and realized that I have time and I should just relax. My GP can do all the early tests and ultrasounds and I like her. She's just far out of the way (1hr drive each way) and because of that she can't attend my birth (although I would love her to if she could and I couldn't get in with the midwife!)
