    Default More RRL tea questions

I know there was a thread in the past two weeks on RRL - but I have a few more questions:

    - How much should I drink per day (I'm planning on making iced tea)?

    - How many teaspoons of tea (I have loose tea) per quart of water should I use?

    - I have read various things on when to start it - I am 31 weeks now. I was kind of hoping that toning my uterus *might* help get my placenta moved up (it still had almost a centimeter to move at the u/s last week). Is it safe to start now?

    Thanks!

I couldn't remember exactly what I did, so I was hoping someone else would respond. I think I started around 24 weeks. I believe I used 1 tsp. per cup of water (so...4 tsp per quart) and I drank 1 cup a day until I got to about 32 weeks and then I increased to 2 a day, and at about 36 weeks I brewed it a little stronger. I think that's what I did. Can't remember exactly. I think it is safe to start now for you. I think it is probably safe throughout pregnancy as long as you don't drink too much. If you notice it causes you to have a lot of BH's, you might want to cut back--that's what I did.

I know alot of women start drinking it as soon as they find out that they are prego.. It doesn't hurt anything to drink it so there's no need to wait until a certain number of weeks.. I don't drink the tea but i think its usually 1-2 cups a day unless you really like it and then drink more..

My midwife's recommendation is 1 ounce of dried RRL steeped in one quart of boiling water for four hours. This makes about a pint of a very strong infusion, which you can dilute down to whatever strength you prefer, hot or cold. In the first two trimesters, you drink one cup of the infusion, the third trimester you drink the whole thing every day.
