Default A must read book ~ Monique and the Mango Rains.

Have any of you had the pleasure of reading this treasure of a book? I am halfway through it & will probably be finished before I finish work today ~ my midwife lent it to me after we got talking about books at my last appointment. She is leaving next week to go to Africa for while to do some midwifery work & the area she will be in is close to where the book is based ~ in her studies she came across the book (a couple yrs ago) and fell in love with it. Reading it now myself, I can see why.

I figured some of you might be interested in reading it as well What's fun about the book is that when the author planned on going to Africa she was not planning on doing midwifery care, it's just how things worked out. I think the fact that this story is a true story makes it all the more intesesting.

Oh, that's neat. DH just returned from a medical missions trip in Africa (Ivory Coast) and he told me a little about the MWs there. So this book really peeked my interest.

I'd love to hear how you like it, once you've read the book. I finished it last night - it's so very raw. I think I cried as much as I laughed.

I am interested, but it shall have to wait. I have way to much on my plate right now. Maybe after baby is born
