My 1st MW appointment (XP)

I had my MW appt last night, all in all it was pretty routine, lots of questions and info, but after I asked if we could listen for the heartbeat, she said it might still be too early but we'd give it a shot. We didn't get a heartbeat but we did hear what she thought was the baby kicking or moving out of the way of the doppler, you could definitely hear the difference between the static and the Whoooshing of something in there. My placenta is right at the top of my uterus right now so I don't know if that has something to do with it. My next appointment isn't for another 3 weeks, it's going to feel like forever

Who did you see? Did you like her? Did you bring Bill or Aidan with you or was it just you? Smile

lol sorry, I didn't elaborate much did I?

I saw Tiffany, Lisa was on vacation. She's so sweet and gave me so much information that I didn't need to ask many questions at all, I'm sure that I'll have more as I go along. I just went by myself this time becuse it was jsut after work so instead of driving back to Ajax to pick up Aidan and then back to my appointment, I just went. Next time I'll bring him, I think he'd love the waiting room, it's very kid friendly.

Because I'm still up in the air about HB vs. Hospital birth, I asked about the water birth and she informed me that the hospital under no circumstances allows the mother to deliver in water. I was very dissapointed to hear this, but it also strengthens my want for a homebirth...now, just to talk Bill into it lol

So you don't tell them you're pushing until the baby's head is out. Smile Ask for privacy if you feel pushy and call the midwives in too late. LOL. In all seriousness, if I felt strongly about a waterbirth and I was in hospital, that is what I would do. Get my doula in on it. Smile

ETA: It's probably more complex than that...regarding following the 'rules' to keep hospital priviledges from being revoked. But that's my gut emotional response. LOL.

Woot! Glad your appointment went well.
Yeah I've had to see Melinda all month because Lisa's been on vacation! Blum 3

At my 11 week appointment we tried to hear the HB but it was too early. Hopefully at your next one the bean cooperates! Biggrin
You can always labour in water until you're pushy... but at that point you're not really gonna wanna get out! LOL! I agree with Em, my gut would say don't tell anyone you're pushy! hehehe

Yup, if your placenta is over it, that can lead to this. I couldn't' hear a heartbeat with my midwife until week 13 I think... even at week 12, we couldn't' hear it. And at 17 weeks we couldn't hear it until we had searched for it for 10 minutes- it was hiding under my pelvic bone. Of course, I was feeling movement at that point so it wasn't as worrisome.

This exactly Em. or else I would have lol. I told her maybe the next generation of natural birthers will have the luxury of a water birth in a hospital,.
