Wow!!! I wish there was an OB like that here! I think it would be awesome. Though I would probably still use a midwife at home but knowing that there would be an awesome back up OB if I wanted would be awesome! You are so so lucky!

Just thought I would update...

She went through 9 or so hours of excruciating back labor, babe was posterior, and she was vomitting continuously. Finally, they got baby turned, and back labor has completely disappeared, along with contractions!! So she is looking forward to a night of rest.

I don't think it will be much longer Biggrin

wow!! that is awesome! I just finally listened to that NPR interview w/ Ina May that was posted here a little bit ago, and when I read this I thought of what she mentioned about how many OB's and other physicians come to the Farm to give birth. Good to know not every medical professional is drinking the koolaid!

sending love and ELV's to your doc and his wife!

Well, apparently she labored through the day yesterday with lots of vomitting and back pain again, and they ended up giving her an IV at home. Baby was a bit tachy and they discussed transferring but decided to wait it out a bit longer. Baby turned again, contractions fizzled, she slept last night and then woke up this morning with nothing more than mild menstrual-like cramps. Bless her heart!! I'll let you know when I get any more news!

I should also mention that she is under the care of midwives, not just her DH. I think it's really cool that he is an OB and hired midwives to attend his wife.

Baby girl is here!! They had her at home, sometime last night. I don't know the details, but I'm so glad they were able to have the birth they wanted Biggrin
