"Naturally" inducing by dehydration?
I thought I had heard it all until this! Have any of you ever heard of dehydrating to induce naturally? From what I understand you fast for 12 hours, and labor will start in that time period. Once labor starts you begin eating and drinking again. Apparently, the lowering of your blood volume increases the ratio of oxytocin in your blood which kicks your body into labor. It makes sense because dehydration is one of the top two causes of premature labor, the other being UTI.
I don't know if I'd be willing to try since I believe hydration and nourishment are so important to a functional labor process, but I was wondering if anyone else had ever heard of this?
