    Default New territory for me

Hello, I'm Sarah I am due July 4th 2011 with my third baby and have decided that since this will most likely be my last birth I would really like to try NCB. I've gone into my last two births knowing I would have an epidural, no questions asked and not even really considering doing it any other way. This time I just feel different.

I'm really interested in laboring in water/waterbirth. I have made an appointment with a local CNM and Im just kind of hungry for knowledge at this point. I can't really say I have any expectations. I would like to have this baby without and Epi but if It doesn't happen that way I wouldn't be heartbroken.

I just figured I would introduce myself since I will be around lurking quite a bit.

I think many of us started with just a small feeling that natural birth was the way to go, and the more you read and learn sometimes the stronger that desire becomes!

Is there still a book/resource list at the top of the page? My personal favourites are Henci Goer's Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth and Ina May's Guide to Childbirth.

    And congrats on baby #3!

Hi Sarah! Nice to see you again!! And congrats on #3

If you want some good resources, there's a list right now on the march '11 board. Someone just asked about 'what books to read' and a bunch of us have provided our personal faves. I'd go check it out, if you want some resources. It's here: http://www.pregnancy.org/bulletinboa...d.php?t=636605

Good luck, and glad to see you!

Congratulations and welcome! With my first child, I started out knowing I'd get an epi. Then a friend of mine sent me "Ina May's Guide to Childbirth" and completely changed my thinking! I switched from an OB to a birth center with midwives at 20 weeks along! best decision ever

I'd definitely just read, read, read and read some more. The suggestions on the sticky here is a great place to start. Also a good overall thing to watch is "The Business of Being Born" and "Orgasmic Birth"

    Yay!

Welcome and Congratulations!!! Have fun on your NCB journey. As PP said, once you start to learn about it I think the desire to learn more and really make a commitment to NCB grows. Baby number 3 should be super exciting!

Hi Sarah! We can be birthbuddies

Anyway, I did have a natural birth (in hospital) with my first. I was able to labor in the water and it was wonderful. I plan to labor in water again. I'm not sure if I will birth in water or not (I will have the option at the birth center).

So glad you are posting over here! You are plenty early, it is the perfect time to research so you can choose a practitioner.
