OK soooo I am pretty sure I may be....

homebirthing... Or should I say hotel birthing. LOL I have found a mw in both Missouri and Indiana that will take me as a client. The group in Indiana that are CNM's. They even know of a great place over the border that I can do it. The other is a CPM. I meet with her on Saturday. I have a doc appt in St. Louis with Dr. Forsetter on Tuesday. I am not sure if I am keeping that appt or not. I am just ready for this to be decided and move on.

That's awesome!! So, what are the logistics? Will you stay in a hotel around your due date, or wait until you're in labour and hope for the best re: finding a room? LOL! I'm just curious. Smile

I'm glad you found someone that might be able to work with you and be a good fit for a Home/hospital birth! I'm curious about the logistics of it too once you figure it out.

yeah not sure on logisitics yet. The midwife has done this before because of the birth climate in Illinois. I meet her in person next week. I ahve talked to her quite a bit on email and over the phone. I am pretty confident that the one in Indiana is a good fit. I have a meeting with the mw in MO on Saturday and I am going with that as well. The Indiana one is slightly closer to me. I am hoping to have it all decided and wrapped up by next week. Then I will cancel my appts with my ob. LOL I am sooo excited. I wish I could have a homebirth in my actual home, but this is 2nd best and better than the alternative.

Congrats! I switched to a home birth at thirty weeks last time so I know what a relief it can be to get things figured out.

Super cool!! The hardest part for me was making the decision one way or another and then everything sortof fell into place from there. GL, and I hope it is an easy decision!

That's so awesome, I'm a bit jealous I must admit, but I'm going to live vicariously through you and the other homebirthers :D. I really really hope it works out for you, it sounds awesome.

thanks ladies. I found out yesterday my insurance WILL cover the CNM in Indiana. That is a huge plus and I have read fabulous reviews about them over at Mothering. I think my mind is made up, but I am still meeting with the CPM on Saturday. The insurance won't cover her, soooo that kind makes a difference. I really like the idea of having a legal homebirth without having to worry about CPS or any other nonsense.

That's fantastic news Smile - I don't know how insurance or the different options work over there, but having a birth environment and attendant that you are happy with makes all the difference!!

I got a call from a local lay midwife today who has now agreed to take me on. Talk about making my choice hard. Being in my own home is soooo much better, but the midwife is technically illegal. Argh. I don't know what to do.
