My midwife came over this morning for my monthly prenatal checkup, and everything is looking good. I got to hear the baby's heartbeat with the fetoscope for the first time (I was never able to pick it up on the fetoscope during my last pregnancy) and it was pretty awesome. It just sounded truer somehow - not amplified or distorted like on the doppler.
The best news is that my blood pressure is looking really good these days. I had posted previously that I was diagnosed with chronic hypertension in 2010 (it's hereditary, and I'm well into my 40s now), and have been on bp meds which was keeping it under control. However, when I found out I was pregnant, my doc had to switch my meds and it seemed like it wasn't nearly as effective - my bp was still hovering around 140/70. It's been probably the biggest concern for both me and my midwife. She had me start taking this supplement, Hemoxide, a few weeks back, and my bp is now consistently around 125/60 - woot!! She actually wants me to think about trying to forego my bp meds and see how my bp does just with the Hemoxide. We shall see.
Anyway, I'm feeling really good - morning sickness has been gone for weeks, feeling squirms and wiggles, and beyond the usual tiredness, just feeling really good. I have my 20-week ultrasound scheduled for Jan. 31.
