    Default prodromal labor?

So I don't know if this is what I am experiencing, but I remember reading that several of you ladies experienced this.

Until now, I've been feeling relatively great the past couple of months. Haven't even had to use the mounds of pillows to sleep like I did with DS's pregnancy!

Well, tonight, something happened and I started feeling lower back crampy pain. At first it was constant, nothing excruciating but definitely crampy and uncomfortable. It almost felt like the menstrual crampiness (sp?) that I experienced when going into labor with DS, but it wasn't low and in front....only in back.

My lower front started becoming tight, but I think in response to my back pain. I went and got on my left side in bed and although that helped the pressure, they began coming in waves, but nothing I could really time. And my belly would harden, but only the lower part.

After about an hour and a half, I went and took a warm shower. It felt great in the shower, but now that I'm out and lying on my left side again on the couch, the crampy back pain is coming back.

Again, nothing extreme but definitely has me a bit on edge.

Is this normal of prodromal labor?

All mine was in front but it was only the bottom half of my tummy tightening up and my contractions never got consistent in a pattern or had a steady intensity until I went into full blown labor. When I started feeling some back contractions is when I was in real labor BUT that was me. I worry about the back pain even if it is just crampy because I had a friend who nearly gave birth at home from exactly what you are explaining.

So after 2.5 hours of the low backache, it finally went away. It's still a bit tender, but definitely relaxed now. After having it go away, I definitely think there was something to it. It felt like a menstrual cramp in my back. I am definitely mentioning it to the MW tomorrow at my appt.

I'm glad it went away but I would for sure mention it to your midwife. KUP!

I am not sure, but I would talk to your midwife. I hope it stops for you.

Had my appt today with the m/w and mentioned it to her. She smiled and said, "did you look out the window last night?" full moon She made me feel better about telling me all the stuff I already knew....that real labor starts to eventually (usually) get into a rhythm and although I was having waves, they weren't really able to be timed, etc., etc.,

I love how they don't freak out at the birth center and tell me I have to be hooked up to the monitors, etc. and didn't even suggest a cervical exam. Just kind of like, yep, it's your second child...your body is just preparing, you're not able to rest like you could during your first pg, since you are chasing a toddler around and probably lifting him too much and standing on your feet too long during the day, etc.

She told me I did everything right, lie down, drink water, rest, warm shower, etc. which again I knew, but still feels nice to be reassured.

Just need to make it at least 2 more weeks so I can birth at the birth center!
