My last baby engaged around 35 weeks as well and man was it painful. I used my birth ball a lot and had the same worries so I asked my midwife and she said as long as I am just sitting on it I should be fine, no bouncing or things to encourage labor along. I made it to 38+2 before my baby came.

So I was on the ball last night and thought of the no bouncing comment. Out of curiosity I tried a few little bounces and within a minute had a real (rather painful) contraction. Ha, I can only hope it is that easy once I'm ready for bub to come out.

That's interesting that your body responded so quickly to the bouncing! As you said, it could be useful later on when you're ready for him to make his grand entrance. :)
I keep thinking this LO is going to engage because he'll be so low and I'll have crazy tons of pressure, but then later his feet are up in my ribs again. Totally not concerned about it or looking for him to engage, but it keeps me on my toes. I was just pleased that my MW had to really feel for his head Monday.

I can feel mine when he stretches he can brush my ribs but not really hit them if that makes any sense. It is nice compared to earlier this pregnancy when he was so high. He bruised my ribs around 27 weeks, and I was having difficulty breathing for a minute or two right after laying down. None of that now that's for sure. This is way more comfy except for the occasional hip pain.
