Hi all!
I had a birth lodge here this time two years ago.
My little snowpea is gonna be 2 on the 9th of January, and we recently found out we are expecting our 3 child.
My due date is August 30th, 2011 but I'm hoping to completely avoid the induction this time around and let it all happen as naturally as possible.
I'm attempting to go with a midwife, but money is really tight for us and DH may be switching jobs soon and insurance is a stress that I'm trying so hard not to deal with.
I have an appointment (1/11/11) to meet with a midwife at a clinic I would like to have, and at that appointment we will discuss the money aspect.
DH and I watched The Business of Being Born about 2 months ago and he agreed with everything said in the film, but money is a HUGE factor and we have no clue how much it will be if our insurance won't help cover it. We know it's cheaper than a hospital birth, but still.
Please send a little prayer up for us.

Congrats on baby #3!
I hope everything works out with the money aspect of things. Insurance stuff must be pretty frustrating.
HI!!!!
I hope that everything works out from the money prospective! I'm so glad you are following through to see if it will work out. Midwives are generally so much less expensive than the hospital but it can be frustrating if insurance won't help at all.

Congrats! We had to be sneaky to get our insurance to cover our birth center and midwife. Since they have an OB they work with, we funnel all the charges through the OB who is in our network for maternity coverage. I hate being sneaky, but this is one place don't feel guilty about it.
Good luck working it all out!
Well the lady on the phone said that she's sure our insurance covers a nurse/midwife (which they do have at least one) but, the thing that REALLY concerns me is I have NO clue what insurance we will have when the baby is due... DH had an interview a few days before Christmas and we are waiting to hear back from them. We don't know what insurance they use yet and how long before we have it.
We may be having COBRA for a while.
But of course, that's IF he gets the offer and IF he switches jobs to them.

Congrats! I'm also having my 3rd and due the beginning of August. The midwife I'm going through chrages $3500, I'm not sure what my insurance will pay out of this but it's still less out of pocket than what I paid for my son's hospital birth. I hope it all works out for you and do your best not to stress about it.
