I'm Kristina, I was a mod on this board when it was a baby. I have 5 children (birth stories in the birth story thread), my first was a horrible not natural hospital birth, second was a not so horrible natural hospital birth, third was a great natural hospital birth. Then I got smart (for myself), four and five were born at home with a midwife. They were truely amazing homebirths. My fifth was an eye opener, he was 9lbs 14oz and I birthed him without my midwife even laying a hand on me. I completely went on instinct and manage not even to tear.
15 minutes after his birth I was offered an apprenticeship with her to become a midwife. She said "we have an eye for future midwives". I had been interested previously in midwifery but second guessed myself. So I'm now a doula (toLabor) and midwife student. I'll be enrolling in the Ancient Art of Midwifery Institute in Feb. and will be starting my apprenticeship once Riley is in school, or I can afford or find on call childcare. I have many hands of skills and knowledge regarding birth and I think I could be helpful on this board even though our family is complete now.
I look forward to getting to know you! - and living vicariously through you too.
