I just wanted to "formally" reintroduce myself here. I posted here a lot before, during, and after the birth of my son, Jesse, nearly three years ago. I've posted sporadically since. But I know that a lot of you don't have a clue who I am!
My name is Amber, I'm married to Steve, and after 18 months of TTC (who says BFing doesn't work as birth control?!!) we're finally expecting our second baby. I had an almost completely natural birth in a hospital with DS. I had a rather fast, yet somewhat dysfunctional labour with him, and ended up using nitrous oxide. I also had some minor complications afterward which necessitated a trip to the OR, complete with a spinal block. All in all though, it was a fantastic birth. I just hated being out of my element and having to play by their rules, IYKWIM.
I'm hoping to avoid all of that stuff this time around....we're very excited to be planning a home waterbirth with a midwife! I'm still in a bit of disbelief, as midwifery is not yet legalized (it's actually in the process of being legalized right now!), but it's not *illegal* either. And there's only one midwife. She had moved away at the beginning of the summer, but she moved back for at least the entire school year! She has an amazing backup doctor, who I worked with as a doula before. He's amazing. And my doc is fine with home births as well. All seems to be falling into place for this birth.
Anywho, I can't wait to get to know you all better.
