UPDATE: They took the foley out and it turns out it DID work, she's at 6 cm! Hooray! Still no contrax, so they are starting pit now. I am hoping for the BEST and that a little bit gets things moving and then her body remembers what to do and takes over. But we should have a baby by tonight I'd guess! Keep sending those vibes! Skip the ELVs, though, go straight to the hard stuffWould that be ALVs?
My sister, who is also a natural birth mama but hardly ever posts here (she posted on the 37 week breech thread a few times, her baby was breech at 37 weeks too and ended up flipping over, whew!) Anyway, she is now 9 days "overdue" and she had them talked into letting her go to 42 weeks, but when she went for a NST on Tues, her amnio fluid was borderline. She went back 2 days later and it was still low, so they are inducing now (ugh). She went in last night and had a foley balloon inserted. The hope was that it would fall out on its own if she got to 4 cm, but no luck. This little guy is a troublemaker already (breech and then this)So they are removing the foley now and will probably give her an hour or so to see if her contractions get any stronger (she's having irregular, painless BH, but no labor contrax yet) and if not they will try Cytotec. I know she is beyond ready to get this show on the road, but she is definitely anti-induction and is not happy to be in this situation. I am just PRAYING that her body gets the clue here soon and she doesn't end up with a pitocin induction, which she doesn't want. Although they know her stance on this, and she has a midwife who I'm sure will make sure they turn it off once her body takes over. I'm so nervous for her! Send her some labor vibes, this little guy needs to start his big entrance now!
That's great that they started with the Foley Bulb! I don't know why that's not the standard start. Good luck to her, and tell her to remember that they *can* and *should* turn down the Pitocin -- or even turn it off -- once labor kicks in! Yay for being an auntie again.

Rest in peace, Martin.
I'm glad the foley helped thing out. I'll be sending ALVs that way!
