Hi ladies! I've been a regular lurker on this board since my pregnancy and even after the birth of my DD in September. I just wanted to share my birth story with all of you which was featured on the Birth Without Fear blog. If you are not familiar with the blog, I recommend you check it out. They also have a facebook page which is wonderful! I shared this story on my Oct birth board and it didn't go over as smoothly as I had expected so I thought I'd share it with other women who have had or are planning a natural birth. Enjoy!

That is a fantastic story! Thanks for sharing. I used Hypnobabies and while I don't know if I ever consciously went into hypnosis during the birth, I know it was what kept me calm and focused and I never even considered asking for drugs, although there were some scary moments and unpleasant things that had to happen during DS' birth, I was able to do it naturally and never freaked out. With this baby, now that I know what to expect, I think I'll be even better prepared and I am hoping for an even smoother, easier birth this time. I don't know why your BB didn't respond positively, it is such a great story. I guess some women are suspicious of those of us who opt to go without the epidural.
I loved your birth story! I hope my delivery in March is like yours. Truly inspiring.
Married to Jay since September 2, 2007

I can't say that I ever actually went into hypnosis either, but it did keep me calm and the deep breathing exercises really helped. I actually didn't even realize when I was going through transition. As far as my BB, it started to turn into a debate over medicated v. non-medicated, but thankfully we all respect each other and have all become friends so we quickly stopped before it got ugly.
Beautiful, inspiring story!
I really think some people just get defensive about their own birth choices when they read experiences like yours, instead of being inspired by them. It's sad but human. You did something amazing here...thank you for sharing!
wonderful story! thanks for sharing!!! i was in transition in the truck on the way to the hosp and i was so upset b/c i said there was no way i could continue naturally with things being so intense. looking back it was obviously transition. now that i actually know that feeling i will hopefully cope a little better with this one!
