Thread: Videos of homebirth

After the wonderful “history of childbirth” movies that Mrs.Mangobabe posted (and DH and I watched last night), we were looking for some videos to show DSS to prepare him for the birth (he’s 11yo). I know that people have posted before asking this, so I wondered if anyone had a compilation put together, or some links. We looked briefly last night and we are looking for some comfortable home birth videos – preferably not too long (10mins?) that have whole pieces of real labour. Nakedness is fine (after all, I was completely naked for last 2 births), and we will definitely be watching it with him and talking to him.

DSS was there for DS’s birth, but he spent most of the tme playing with a friend, his video games, and showed up 2 minutes after DS was born, so he doesn’t really realize how it went. He was at his mom’s for DD’s birth, and is royally pissed about it because he really wanted to be there and his mom wouldn’t let him. This time, he’s asked several times if he can just be at our house for all of September because he doesn’t want to miss his new sibling’s birth. He also has asked a lot more questions and wants to see some movies, so DH and I are trying to put together a bunch.

i just searched youtube to show DD some videos. Some were good some not.. but nothing longer than the 10 mins that youtube allows.

What did you search, and do you have any recommendations?

I searched for freebirthing or unassisted births. also for just homebirth.

Thanks for posting these links ladies! I didn't find anything right on youtube when I searched but 2 of the links you ladies posted are great and I can let DS watch. I can't wait to check out the rest.

i'd just watch them first, some are kinda weird. or just pictures to a song.. also try the links of related videos on the side.
