Awww you ladies almost made me cry. I never thought I was an inspiration... just another mama trying to have my babies. I can't believe it's that time already again! Thank you for gathering around and lifting me up again!

As for my stories... I'll probably just do the condensed versions this time. I'll have to come back and post though as I am exhausted tonight. Most of you know about my previous births, but if anyone is interested, they are in my lodge in the lodge archives.

So long stories short...

DH and I met in a Yahoo chatroom in January 2005. He was in Korea at the time, and I was in college in NC. We spent months talking on the phone mainly, and then I drove to meet him for the first time in June 2005. It was like we had always been together. We got married in May of 2006. He has done a year in Korea, two years in Iraq, and a year in Afghanistan. We have been stationed at Ft. Hood, TX and Ft. Richardson, Alaska (where we are currently).

Somehow in there, we have been able to concieve 3 precious babies. It took us about a year and a half to have Sylvia. He was deployed and made it home just in time on mid-tour leave. She was born December 18, 2008. I had an infection called chorioamnionitis, which led to an emergency c/s, and a week stay for her in the NICU. The day after she got home, he had to report back to Iraq, and didn't see her again until she was six months old.

Within 6 months, I got pregnant again!! I'm pretty sure on her birthday... he.he.he. Smile The next 9 months were extremely stressful. Justus came on September 17, 2010. I planned an HBAC in NC and labored at home for 48 hours. I can't remember the exact times, but I think I was nearly complete for 7 hours. My cervix began to swell at 9.5 cm with an anterior lip, when my MW broke my water at 9 cm there was meconium, and I made the decision to transfer. I also ultimately made the decision to go to c/s. He had been posterior and asynclitic, and my mom said the cord was wrapped 3 times. John was in terrible spot in Afghanistan and missed Justus' birth entirely. He came home a week later due to the c/s and me needing help, and then did not see his son again for 10 months.

So here we are!! Within 2 weeks of John coming home from Afghanistan, we conceived again! We knew we wanted another but had no idea it would happen so fast. In 3 years, due to BFing, I have only had 2 AFs (and one chemical pregnancy), so I had no idea what exactly I was charting but I was trying to keep track lol. I cried like a baby when I found out, but I was so happy. It was all just very overwhelming. So I have an amazing OB here in Alaska who is really more like a super duper MW. He totally supports my VBA2C, as well as things like declining continuous monitoring. I will be delivering at a hospital in the Valley (between Wasilla and Palmer), and not at the military hospital. I'm feeling excited for the birth, but at the same time I think that whatever is meant to happen will happen. We have not ruled out having more children at this point, but I feel like if I have another c/s I will be done. It is so hard on my body. I'm just trying to stay positive and avoid stress. I decided in the beginning of the pregnancy to go back to work so that I wouldn't obsess the whole time. I plan to work until I can't.

My lunch break is almost over, but once I get home tonight, I will update you as to the latest goings on with my OB and the hospital...

You summed all that up quite succinctly! For all of you unfamiliar with Ariel's story, go read her previous lodge intro, Justus' birth story, and her post about the first time Daddy met Justus. Just thinking about it gets me all misty! I remember your optimism after Justus' birth in that you *know* you can dilate to completion and that it was just unfortunate circumstances that led to your c/s. I'm so glad you have the "super duper MW" OB! Is your DH home this time?

I'll have to go check out your previous lodge to read the extended version of your last birth story, since I'm totally curious now. I hate that your DH is away so much, but I'm so excited about the possibility of him getting to be there this time (I'm still hoping it will work out!).

Are you still feeling like nothing is happening? I keep waiting for some sign that something is happening here, but it's just the same old, same old every day.

DH is technically home this time lol. He has been in the field for the past two weeks, which is basically camping in a remote part of the post. He will be close for the birth but was slotted for a military school that runs from April 9- May 9 Sad Cool thing is that it will be a very consistent schedule of like 8 am - 5 pm or so, but he can only miss two hours of the school a week or he gets booted. So fingers crossed I go in the middle of the night (given my history this is a good possibility), or on a weekend and then he will definitely be there.

Anna, nothing happening here today lol!! I went to bed around 8 pm last night and slept like a rock until 6 am. I'm not getting my hopes up for anything Biggrin

Love your summed up intro! I totally remember your last birth story from you lodge and how much it ment that you had gotten so far and gone so long on top of not having your DH there with you. To me that was awesome in itself. I'm so glad that there is a big possibility that DH will be at the birth this time. I've got everything crossed that you will have this LO during his off hours.

Seriously, I can't believe I'm just a couple days shy of 37 weeks!! Where has the time gone?!

Continuous fetal monitoring has been a big issue for me this pregnancy since I am going to be in the hospital. All the legit info I can find shows that it only increases the risk of c/s and does not tend to improve outcome. At first my OB offered the telemetry (wire-less) monitor, but restriction of movement is not my concern with the monitoring. Baby h/r can do funky things and it is not always an indicator of true distress, but I know being a vba2c that my providers will be bound ethically to do something or encourage intervention if they see even the slightest blip. I have no problem doing the initial strip, or doing intermittent monitoring with a doppler (like a MW would do), but not continuous. If there is an indication or anything off the normal path that signals a need for more monitoring, of course I will comply. But the idea is to stay home until the end so hopefully it won't be that big of an issue.

So my OB is totally on board with this. He knows me and trusts that I have done my homework. I just had to put it in writing in my birthplan and acknowledge that I have been counseled of the risks, which of course I was willing to do. Soooo he got called to an ethics board meeting at the hospital and they are making him refer me (and 3 other moms who are declining) out to an anesthesiologist and another OB so that they can also counsel us on the risks. LOL! I was supposed to meet with the anesthesiologist on Tuesday and then thought better of it b/c DH couldn't be there. No word on re-scheduling yet, and they way I see it, they can work around MY schedule haha!! My OB is still totally behind my decision, so no worries there. I know if DH goes with me that they won't scare tactic me though. He can look pretty scary himself LOL!!

Other than that appointments have been pretty boring. I'm measuring right on my dates, no weight gain last time, and b/p has been around 118/60. Of course LO has been very active and head down. I've been seeing a chiropractor since before I got pregnant and LO has been staying LOA for the most part. I really hope to avoid another posterior, asynclitic labor (both DD and DS were like that and I did NOT do chiropractic care with their pregnancies). Much less frequent BH this time too, though they have been kicking up over the past week. So all is on track thus far!!

What a PITA! I know you're well-researched enough that this is just a silly thing you'll have to sit through, but it makes me sad to think how many other ladies get strongarmed into complying with that stuff. Ugh. Maybe they won't reschedule in time and you won't have to deal with it at all :D. Sounds like you have quite the awesome OB--that's really something to be thankful for!

Glad baby's behaving in there...here's to just a few more weeks of totally uneventful pregnancy followed by a beautiful NCB!

Haha this!! I was talking with my OB's wife and she said to just drag my feet and take my time lol. I can only meet on Mondays, so that narrows it down to only a couple of options, and no word this week means that next Monday is probably not going to happen lol.

Ohhh good, hope you don't have to go to that meeting ever. Seriously, 'counsel' just tells me they are going to tell you about all the horrible things 'they' think could happen. You've done your homework and don't need to hear about their proffsional worries before the big day. Glad your OB wasn't bulldozed into anything either and still has your back! I'm with you on not wanting to have the continuous monitoring even though its pretty expected here for anyone VBACing.

Yay for some good appts. and the chiro care!

Well, it's so sad that it looks like your schedule is just not going to open up enough to be able to make it. You sure can't help it if something happens to come up every time. Oh well. Biggrin

I'm glad to know that your OB is totally on board with it either way. I don't know why medical 'professionals' refuse to believe that a woman can educate herself perfectly well and that when we say we are aware of the risks, we mean it. When I first told my OB I was going to go for a VBAC, he was completely on board and said that as long as I knew the risks he was on go for it. I told him I was and he accepted that and didn't lecture me or tell them to me.

You'll be full-term in no time at all and ready for that baby to get here!

I had a dream last night that I had bloody show, and then woke up this morning confused if it was real or a dream lol. But I'm pretty sure I dreamed it. Here's some belly shots for you:

The first is 35 weeks, and the second is today at 37. I almost think I look smaller in the recent pic!

Haha! I remember those crazy pregnancy dreams.

I think your belly looks a little lower. Maybe that's why it looks smaller?

Yay for 37 weeks! Something looks different but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe she is in a new position. I hate it when you can't remember if it was real or a dream cause the dream seemed so real.

Not a whole lot going on here! It would be nice if we could have her by this Sunday though since it would be right before DH starts his school. But she will come when she's ready! I do feel like she is posterior ATM. I'm getting all my kicks and movements down the front. I have a massage and then the chiro scheduled for this afternoon, so I'm pretty excited for that. I skipped my appointment this week b/c DS had a doctor's appointment, so my next appointment will be Monday. He did mention he would check me if I wanted. I'm kindof torn about it. I am curious to see what (if anything) is happening, but on the other hand it really doesn't mean much. With DD before labor I was only a fingertip, and with DS I was at about 1 cm, so I'm not really the dilate early type I don't think. I was getting pretty strong and regular contractions before I ever even hit 2 and 3 with DS.

I think whoever mentioned in one of the other lodges that it will go Joy, Anna, and me is right on!! It would be so cool if it was all wihtin a couple of days. We need to exchange cell numbers or something lol!!

I know what you mean. I'd really like to have this baby AND be back home before this weekend. That would make me happy, but this isn't about me and if I want my VBAC I don't get to make the decision about when 'it' happens.

Since my mom had fast labors, I'm hoping that I'm the same, but I know that's not something I can count on. I guess I need to go research more about posterior and anterior baby positioning, since I have no idea what that really is all about. I am also feeling nearly all movement in the top and front of my belly.

Yay for a massage before your Chiro appt.! Yeah, I can see that its hard to not be curious and want to get checked. With DS2 the MW just didn't do check at all, never even said a word about them, so I don't even know if I dialted before labor started. Its making way easy for me to no be curious this time and toy with the idea of having her check.

I think this LO has been sitting LOA for a long time so most of the movement down is to my right hip/pelvis area. There isn't much movement now in general as amazon child is pretty much out of room. Hopefully she will turn into a better positon after your adjustment today.

Oh I'm doing good, just getting to the "done" stage. I really hate to complain though because I've been truly blessed this pregnancy with very few symptoms and next to no aches and pains. My belly just feels so big and stretched it feels like it's going to explode lol! LO has been very active this morning and feels like she keeps moving her hands right across my cervix. Anyone else had discomfort like that?

On a good note, I am GBS negative. I've never been positive so I figured this one would be the same, but it makes me happy b/c it's one less red flag on my file Biggrin

Other than that, still nothing. I had like 5 stronger than BH contractions last night, but then that was it. At least I have been sleeping fairly well.

Yay for GBS- and getting some good sleep!

Yes yes yes about the hands on the cervix. I'm feeling that and its not so nice. I hate that skin stretched to the limit feeling also, totally uncomfortable and makes you kinda itchy too.

What are your other 2 LOs feeling about having a new baby? Do you think DS understands yet (well kinda understands at his age) or will it just be a big shock. I'm sure your DD is excited to have a sister. Who is going to watch the kids for you guys when the time comes?

Yay for good sleep & good baby positioning! I can't believe women try to get through pregnancy & birth without chiropractic care & Hypnobabies, they make such a huge difference. You sound great & look great, I definitely see your belly has dropped a bit.

OMg, I KNOW!! I just never knew anything about chiropractic care. I lumped it into the same category as having a massage... but it's totally NOT. I have made it a priority this pregnancy. And Hypnobabies... yeah I can't say enough good stuff about it. Whether you use it or not during labor, being able to sleep towards the end is sooooo worth every penny of the program.

Sylvia knows there is a baby in my belly. Justus points to my belly, but I don't think he really gets it. If you ask Sylvia where babies come from she says, "A gyyyy-nah!!" Haha!! She was such a joy during my labor with Justus, I really hope I can stay home for most of it and enjoy the two of them again.

Not much going on this morning. I was having the weird "am I dreaming? or was that real?" contractions again last night. I'll take as many as I can at night if I can sleep through them Smile I am feeling sore in my pubic area and like I need to pee every time I take a step, but no change in CM or anything exciting.

I wonder if anyone will have a full moon baby? Isn't it tonight or tomorrow?

Well they called and left a message for me that they had rescheduled the consult with the other OB for Thursday at 3:45. It's very unfortunate *enter sarcasm* because John starts his military training on Monday and can't be there, and my only days off are Sunday and Mondays, so I have to work. Not to mention, It takes me about 45 mins to get up there, and I have to pick up DD and DS by 5:30... so that's not going to be possible *tear*... lol. I'm pretty sure I did tell them though that the only days I can meet are Mondays. When I go to my appointment this Monday I will have to let them know that it just won't fit my schedule. Haha!

Last night I had a round of contractions every 3 minutes for about 2 hours until I went to sleep. They never increased in intensity (they were a little crampier than regular BH) though so I didn't think too much about it. Seems like I have done this with each pregnancy in the last couple weeks.

And for fun, here I am in the first pic at 38 weeks with Justus, the next is currently 38 weeks, and the last is 37 weeks:
