The playground looks great! Have a great home meeting tomorrow. I hope DH loves her!
Happy home birthing, Christa. If I don't catch your labor party, I'll be thinking of you these next few weeks and eagerly anticipating reading your story and "meeting" your LO. I believe in you!! You'll rock this home birth thing!
"Follows instructions well"!!!
You must feel so satisfied.
You have an even bigger job coming up though...
Love the last shot of them looking at each other.

YAY for a home meeting with the MW!
Love that 2nd picture.
Great job on the play set! It looks great. I bet you slept well last night. Good luck with the home meeting today.
That appt went great!!! My blood pressure is perfect, LO's heartrate was 130s and his/her position is LOA (woop woop!). My iron is low so I'm upping my supplement and drinking some supplemental smoothies. It amazes me still after having had 2 appts with my mw the kind of care you get from a mw vs an OB. My mw is concerned about the iron levels because low iron levels can lead to more pp bleeding issues, whereas my OB would've just given me pitocin after the birth as standard practice instead of having me "fix" the problem beforehand. She also said I still have excess amniotic fluid so I'm off to the health food store to get a kidney function supplement to "fix" that. She said the extra fluid can make for longer gestations because it keeps LO floating instead of putting his/her head on my cervix. It can also give baby too much room to squirm around and go from a great position to a bad one. They suggested I really try to keep my pregnancy belt on, I've been neglecting it because it's just so darn hot here. They helped me put it on today and showed me some tricks to getting it tight enough to be effective. She said that since I'm on #4 that I need the extra support to keep baby vertical instead of letting baby lean out over my belly which is what (s)he was doing. It looks like I lost 30 lbs in my belly but she's right, I can most certainly feel baby putting more downward pressure on my cervix versus just hanging out over my belly and putting pressure there instead of where it needs to be. I can feel much more pressure on my cervix and much less pressure straining my poor stretch marked stomach, it feels quite good actually. She was saying having baby hanging out over the belly instead of going vertical can start and stop labor and causes a lot of prodormal labor for mommas that are on their 3rd+ child so I'm willing to do anything to keep labor from dragging out like that. I've known so many women (online) that have been plagued with prodormal labor and it is not something I want to go through!
I haven't had a chance to talk to DH and see what he thought about the mw and her assistant yet as he had to scamper back to work as soon as they left. I'm excited to see what his reaction is.
I feel so bitter sweet about this. I'm not ready for my pregnancy to be over with but I'm so ready to nurse a sweet newborn. This is our last baby and it's just so sad to think my baby bearing days are almost over. I had my first 14 years ago so I've been at this baby making for a loooooonnnnnnggggg time And now that I have this amazing care from a mw I feel like I was completely RIPPED off in my previous care from OB's. It's just so nice to have (individualized) preventative care instead of (standard) reactive care.
I can't even tell you girls just how happy I am and how much I want this for every woman, maybe not being at home if you're not comfortable with it but in a birth center with a mw, a real midwife, not a medwife! It's amazing and empowering!!!
Sounds like a great "appt!" (Quotations b/c totally not the normal appt most have at this point in mainstream america. lol) I've heard of that about the belly in regards to pressure and baby position with some babywearing threads on other sites where women have used wraps and ring slings to help support their belly properly. Hope your DH felt comfortable and actually enjoyed the difference in care!
Definitely happy that you're so thrilled! Not too much longer.
Sounds like your mw is AMAZING! That is so wonderful that you found someone to really care for you and your baby during this last pregnancy and delivery. Espeically since you were worried it might not come together like you wanted.
As for the bacon, I love crunchy too. Almost burnt actually. I have been eating it everyday! That's been a big craving of mine. It's funny because I normally don't even like bacon that much.
Got the birth pool blown up tonight We are going to try filling it tomorrow to make sure it's all working well! DS is fairly certain he is going swimming in my room tomorrow and he's very excited about that. DH is not so impressed with that idea and I may regret it but I figure what the heck, it's not every day you get to have a pool in your house let alone your room and to a 4 year old that must seem like a DREAM COME TRUE so of course I'm all for letting them take a dip. It's just water, my stuff will dry out eventually. Please oh please, don't let me regret this and get the "I told you so" look from DH
Yay for getting the play set put together and your pool ready to go! I am so excited for your home birth! I know how much you want this and am so excited you are getting it.
