Yay!!! It's lodge time! Hope you are feeling well today, Christa!
Not really sure where to start on an intro but I guess I'll start with me and DH and go from there.
DH (Scott) and I were introduced by my BFF and her bf. I think it was a convenience thing in the beginning, I was her BFF and DH was his BFF and they decided to hook us up. We all ride horses and have most of our lives so our first "meeting" was on a ride. I met him for a quick second but it wasn't sparks or anything. Then we all went riding at BFF's bf's house as a double date. I rode one of DH's extra horses so I didn't have to haul over and I knew as soon as I got on that horse that I'd have to marry him because I loved that horse LOL, jk. It was a miserable ride, cold and it started raining and getting windy. We got back to the house and talked for a long time. I went with DH to take his horses back to his ground and by that time it was a nice evening and we sat out in the pasture talking and eventually making out like teenagers. He brought me home and I told my mom I found the man I was going to marry. She was very excited because at the time she referred to me as the one date wonder. At the time I was living with my mom and stepdad and DD1 was 3 years old. DD1's dad had really done a number on me and I was being extremely picky, I was not going to be taken advantage of again nor was I putting up with the kind of crap her dad had put me through for 5 years so yeah, I went on a lot of first dates. But this was so different, I couldn't get him out of my mind and knew I wouldn't rest until I had himAt the time I was going to school full time and working full time. I had asked DH about a math problem that night that I was having problems with because he was an engineer and a math "nerd". Well, the next night he called to tell me he had been out grocery shopping and had finally figured out the answer to my math problem so he walked me through how to do it and we ended up talking on the phone for over 2 hours that night and from that night forward we talked every single night and really haven't been without contact every day since then. That was in October 2001
We were married in October 2003 and have been ridiculously happy ever since we met. Him and DD1 hit it off from the beginning and he has been a wonderful father figure to her. There is no other man in the world that is such a perfect match for me in every way.
Right before we were married I got my Associate's degree and also found out that my work was closing down our local office. We had about 350 employees and they just shut us down and moved the jobs to different locations. it was so overwhelming but DH assured me that we'd just figure it out. 2 months after we were married was my last day of work, they had been letting people go randomly over about 7 months, I was one of the last to go because of my speciality. So, as of New Years Eve I was unemployed. I was at the disadvantage of being one of the last ones as we're in a small town and all the other ladies had quite the head start on me in getting new jobs. DH and I decided I would just take the unemployment and work on getting my Bachelor's degree. We also decided to start TTC in the new year. Little did we know at the time that it would take 4 years off TTC to finally get pregnant. It was an emotional roller coaster over those 4 years. We were newly married and unsuccessfully trying to have a baby. We ended up being much closer as a couple because of that journey but at the time we hit a lot of really rough patches but we pulled through and were much stronger even before we finally got pregnant.
Will have to finish after snack time!
Welcome to your lodge, I've enjoyed the intro so farDid you get the car seat ready?
Cindy
Despite never having heard your "how we met story" (because you're neglectful like that), that is EXACTLY how I pictured it. Discovery of the day: math makes both of us weak in the knees.
Man, is this the longest snack time ever or what?
That is a great 'how we met' story. I love it![]()
What are y'all eating for snack??
Great intro so far. Can't wait for more!
