I had the same experience in the tub with being way too hot, except in my situation DH was standing there dumping ice water over my head and back between pushing contractions. I will always remember that heavenly feeling!!
ahhhh, see, ice water would've been even better! I never in my life get so hot as I do when I'm heading into transition. It's like my insides turn into an oven in self clean mode. I really think being that hot is one of the worst parts of labor, it's so overwhelming to feel like your insides are on fire.

Wonderful Birth story! I would have much rather been alone than the audience I had. I agree completely. Maybe next time get the midwife there and have her in the next room until baby is born, or something feels "wrong".

    Congrats!

You know who's lucky? Me. For having friends like you to exchange freaking awesome birth stories with. I'm so so so glad you experienced the birth you've wanted and planned for and deserved for so long.

Where were all the kiddos? Sleeping? Downstairs with Grandma? How did DD1 feel about your HB? They're all so lucky to have a mom like you to instill in them an empowering view of birth.

Ice was my savior during T's birth. The MW filled the sink with ice water and draped icy towels on my back.

Grady had gotten up sometime when I was in labor, probably around the time I got in the pool. He was sitting in the living room watching t.v. The upstairs living room is attached to our bedroom with a hallway and no doors so he was either watching t.v. or peeking in on us to see what was going on. I had called my mom earlier and she got there about 10 minutes before Noah was born. She came upstairs, said hi, realized how close it was and took DS downstairs to DD1 so she could come back up and get Clara who was sound asleep in her crib right next to our bedroom. My mom hadn't quite made it back upstairs yet when she heard Noah crying and told DD1 "um, your mom just had a baby", to which DD1 replied while rubbing her sleepy eyes "uh, what?!" Scott came down and told my mom to come up and meet her new grandson and she brought DS and DD1 with her. About that time Clara woke up so she got to see us too. Mom took the kids to her house shortly after and DD1 went to school. Funny story about DS and the birth.... mom said all day DS was telling her all about the rope that Noah had attached to his belly and told her "it's okay, I'll pull it off of him". So, my mom had to explain to him what it was

DD1 is a hard one to gauge. She's pretty tight lipped about everything, emotion wise. I really think part of her is still in shock about it all and probably still trying to process it. I've asked her questions to see if I can get her to open up about it but she just says yeah, it's pretty cool and that's it. If I were guessing though, I'd say she does think it's pretty neat, I can sort of tell by the way she is really smitten with Noah, more so than the other kids in the early days. She tells me all the time that when she's married and starts having kids she wants the kind of information that I have about birth. She doesn't realize it right now but she knows more about birth than the general public already. She's listened to me and asked lots of questions about birth and things I know and seems genuinely interested and seems to "get it".

Have I ever said how much I love nursing and co-sleeping?!?! This newborn stuff just gets easier and easier the more kids you have, you find things that work and things that don't. I finally have the hang of it and DH is shutting me off the baby making I've been begging him for the last 9 days to not take having another baby off the table, he's set in this one though. I'm sure I've mentioned before that my DH very very rarely tells me no on anything but he's really sticking to this one I just keep looking at Noah and I can't grasp that he will be the last baby I ever have, this is the last time I will ever have a 9 day old baby. I know it's dramatic and whiney and yes I'm dwelling on it but, well, I really don't have a good excuse. I know I need to reset my outlook to all the positives but at this time I'm going to just go with being a big baby about it. Maybe in the near future I'll focus more on the positive but just not feeling it right now.

On a happier note, my beautiful little boy is just absolutely perfect He's a great little sleeper all curled up right next to me in bed. He nurses wonderfully, often, but he doesn't drag out the feedings so it pretty much evens out. He is great at dream feeding, neither one of us fully wakes up through the night.

I took all 3 kids for our maiden voyage to Walmart this morning. It went so well! DS1 was a wonderful helper and DD2 was actually pretty calm. She's not feeling well so that may have something to do with it. She woke up this morning with a cough, sneezing and some nose drainage. Everyone is getting veggies and a vitamin c pill for supper tonight. I do not want a house full of sick people!

I'm feeling great as well, there's just a tad bit of soreness down below but nothing to bother me or slow me down. We had our 1 week check up by the mw and assistant on Monday. Noah was up to 10lb 6oz already Everything checked out great for both of us, my iron was a tad bit low so I'm upping my supplements. I took an extra one yesterday and today and can already feel the effects. It's amazing how much it can drag you down to be a little low on iron.

Interesting about your oldest! I bet she's still processing everything and just knowing you're there if she needs you to talk is probably all she needs right now. She's a bright teen and I have no doubt she's heard enough birth info to be better informed than 90% of America! lol

Glad to hear the Walmart trip went well. I'd call you brave, but I know you got to do what you got to do!

I'm soooo happy that everything is going well with nursing, sleeping, and more! WOO HOO!

AH, I'm so glad that things are going so well! He sounds like a dreamy baby and I am just thrilled for you!!!

Feel free to vent, of course. It must be really tough to have strongly different opinions on family size--what an emotional issue. But I hope you are able to get to a more peaceful place soon. I think if I were in your shoes, I would just try to remember that you never can really tell what the future may hold, and unless your DH is scheduling a V or something, I'd do my best to focus on this baby now and let the future--whether it includes more babies or not--unfold in its own time. He might change his mind, or you might, or the universe might take the question out of your hands entirely! The only sure thing is change.

Hope things continue to go so smoothly with your own recovery and with your sweet, sweet baby. I'm so happy for you that you're in so little pain...man, I was more or less miserable for a couple of months, and I only had a 1 "with a little +" tear. You definitely did get it right this time!

What a fantastic birth story, I had a smile the whole time I read it. I'm so glad he's such a great baby and who knows maybe your DH will give in to another baby down the road.

WOW- baby sounds like he's doing GREAT! Dream-feeding? That sounds heavenly! I thought we were doing pretty well, but still getting the BFing down to the painless stage.

Glad to hear all is well with you, and boy are you brave for going to Walmart alone with the troups! OY!Maybe later this week I'll brave it!
