Yep pretty much ready. My hospital bag is more or less packed. The baby's stuff is all in there. My stuff is packed, but I will have to throw the toiletries in there on the day of since I'm still using those. Same with cell phone charger etc. Also on my midwife's list of things to bring it says to bring depends. But I thought they gave you those or pads at the hospital. Do you need depends for several days after? Or can you just use giant pads? I use cloth pads, so I have some of those already.

Oh and the nursery is as done as its going to get. We never hung a mobile. But we got some photos up and its cute. His clothes are all washed, his cloth diapers are mostly prepped, all the gear and equipment is setup. The bouncer still needs batteries and I have a wiper warmer that I need to figure out how to use, but that's about it.

I'm excited that I'm so close!

I never used depends, just the extra giant pads. The bleeding does typically last at least as long as a regular AF but it is more than a regular AF. It also might be a hospital to hospital thing. Mine supplied as many pads as you needed.

YAY for the nursery being ready!

You are incredibly close! I hope you go right around your due date - not too early, not too late!!! Will you update here when you go into labor or just on the April board? Just want to know where to stalk!!! LOL!

It would be awesome if he came within 3 days of his due date in either direction. It would work best with my maternity leave/daycare situation. I will try to update in both places. But check the April board, because I have some birth buddies that said they would post my info for me if I can't get onto preg.org too easily.

I love to have Depends for the first few days. The mesh panties they give you in the hospital really arent good for keeping your clothes clean. I used a Depend over them just to keep it in place and cleaner. You could also just use old underwear though if you are using the pads. I tend to bleed quite a bit so to me its heavier and more drawn out than AF.

Hmm good to know. I guess I might buy a pack just in case.

I had AF-like cramps for like 2 hours yesterday. Not sure what that was about. I know people describe contractions like AF like cramps, but I'm assuming they are distinguishable. My AF cramps were always terrible, I mean horrendous in the past. I was completely not capable of moving for an entire day when I had cramps. But yesterday it was just light cramping, like the beginnings of a period. So I'm guessing it wasn't contractions.

I finished my test on Saturday, so I'm ready for Henry whenever he is ready! But I'm not rushing him either. I need to talk to my midwife about their protocol for going over 40 weeks. They told me they would let me go to 42 weeks. But I need to ask more questions, because I really want to avoid induction. So maybe at 40-41 weeks they recommend my membranes being stripped. Don't know, I need to ask.

I just used big overnight pads for the first few days and that worked fine. I bled FOREVER (waaaaaaay longer than a normal AF--like 6 weeks?) but the heavy bleeding was just at the beginning and overnight pads contained it just fine. Kotex has some that are pretty thin so it wasn't too uncomfortable. The ones from the birth center were like an inch thick--no thank you!

Good luck getting through your last few days! Sounds like you're in a great frame of mind

    *lurk*
After my first, I bled for 8 weeks. It was insane. Thankfully it seems to lessen each time! With #3, it was on/off for about 4-5 weeks. I actually liked the mesh panties, and I used the insanely thick pads.

I hope you get good news about the midwives protocols for postdates and inductions!

OH wow, 6-8 weeks is a long time. Boo!

Is it weird that I find other people way more anxious about my baby's arrival than I am? People call, email, fb me everyday to see what's happening and if the baby is here. I really am not stressing too much about it. I'm sure that will change at 41 weeks when I'm pending an induction date. But right now, I'm easy breezy. Maybe its because I'm trying to soak up all the pregnancy memories I can. I'm not sure DH wants another. He always wanted just one. But lately he has been mentioning a second, so I can hope. But I know our finances may not allow it.

I guess I never gave a formal introduction here. I will do that now, since I'm eating lunch.

So hello, I'm Elizabeth, married to DH for 1.5 years. We have known each other since 2005. And we have been dating since 2006. We met at our first job. He actually got me the job because he told my boss that we had classes together in college and that I was smart. But I had no idea who he was, because we never met in school. I didn't even know we shared a class, so it was a bit awkward when the bossman told me to thank him for getting me the job. I'm like "Thanks for the job, who are you?" Haha.

So we were friends for like a year, going to lunch together everyday and happy hours after work. He had a secret crush on me throughout college and I guess it continued while we were working. We were both dating people when we were just friends. But then we started spending way too much friend time together and it turned into major crushing on each. So we broke up with our significant others, which was a long difficult process for us. But eventually we restarted our lives together by moving to Los Angeles and getting new jobs out there. And then he decided to go to grad school in Chicago, so I followed him. It was too cold in Chicago, so we moved back to Texas (where both our families live), and he proposed and got married 9 months later.

I wanted babies for a long time, since like the 2nd year of our relationship. We had lengthy discussions about it. He said he would be happy to be married without children. I said that was a no go for me and he said he wanted to wait until we were financially ready, because when we moved home I didn't have a job. I was waiting tables. The moment I got a job, I was pushing the baby issue more and more. And the girls over on the TOC board had to listen to me whine and complain about being babyless

He finally agreed to start trying. It took us 6 months to get pregnant, which I find to be an absolute miracle since some of my friends struggled so hard to get pregnant. I was almost nervous to tell him I was pregnant, but when I did, he was so excited. He has changed so much already. He talks to the baby every single day and rubs my belly and can't wait to be a dad. Never in a million years thought that would happen.

I've had a pretty easy pregnancy, minus morning sickness for the first 15 weeks and some SPD issues around 22 weeks. I'm just so excited to be a mom! I've wanted it for a long time now.

    XP from April...

I had my 39 week appointment today. No change at all from last week. Still not dilated at all. I asked my midwife about the going past my due date protocol. She said if I wanted, they could strip my membranes at 41 weeks and then at 41.5 weeks they make me go for an ultrasound to check fluid levels and such. Then at 42 weeks they "typically" suggest induction. The way she said typically makes me think she'd give me a couple extra days. But let's hope I don't make it to that point.

I will definitely take a pic tonight. Sorry last night turned into a disaster because the AC repair guy came and completely destroyed the sheet rock in my closet to access the attic. There were sheetrock pieces and dust everywhere. I had to wash my entire wardrobe AGAIN. The pieces were just all over the house. I was not a happy lady.

What a great intro--better late than never

So glad your DH has warmed up so much to the idea of fatherhood now that it's becoming real! Sounds like you guys are really in a great place---I like the sound of your MW, too Enjoy these last few days or weeks of pregnancy! Are you feeling any practice breathing? That is what I miss the absolute most about being full term pregnant. Somehow it made the fact that there was a BABY in there feel so much more real than the jabs of elbows and knees.
