I'm excited to hear how you prepare for your homebirth. I've never heard of the hibiclens wash in lieu of IV antibiotics for GBS. Is this something your MW offered if you are positive or did you research it on your own? I hear you on the wanting to avoid IVs if possible...they have such a hard time getting one placed on me and I ended up with a huge lingering bruise after one blew up on their first attempt.

My midwife actually offered it. It's been proven in Europe and Canada to be just as effective as the IV antibiotics but the US still doesn't recognize it. It's basically like a mild douche that lasts 4-6 hours. I'm totally for that! lol. My midwife could do the IV antibiotics though with out me ever leaving home BUT my last birth was only 4 hours from the time I went into labor and only about 3 from when I admitted it was labor. So there is NO WAY the IV would work for me unless I have a long labor again. My midwife actually suggested, with how fast my last labor and birth was, the hibiclens wash.

Almost every time I get an IV they stick me at least twice and I always end up with nasty bruising and almost always end up with them blowing a vein as well. I have small veins that roll around and are not easy to find let alone stick. I have to be really REALLY hydrated in order to find them.

glad you have an alternative plan! i had my swab last week and ask my doc that if i'm + would they be ok re-doing the test at 39 weeks. she said it's not common but we could. i told her my concern over not being able to get the antibio's (i was the hosp. long enough to get wheeled in and push baby out last time). she said she understood and said they are following new protocols that if you don't get the anti's they are much more hands off with baby and just watch and see. she also said that they will release at 24hrs to competent (lol) parents who are able to watch for signs so i was happy about that. Anyway, sorry to hijack, it's just nice to have options and providors who aren't pushy.

And YAY for getting cleared for your hb, so excited for you!

Here is the picture I have of the Henna tattoo. It needs to cure still so I don't have any really good pictures but here it is while the paint was drying.
