Sucks about the hospital nursery policy. Mine didn't have that. But you aren't going to a hospital, so just forget about that.

Off to read your old lodge/birth story!
Well, they (and everyone else under the sun) keep recommending Spinning Babies (and I keep saying "Yep. I know it." lol!) but I haven't been doing any of the breech inversions yet so they gave me a handout on those. I tried it last night after dinner....MISTAKE!!!!!!! All of this big baby belly suddenly smushing up into my ribs, lungs, and FULL stomach? Most uncomfortable five minutes of my life (all I could handle!) I'll try again this afternoon under more favorable conditions...I've been doing the forward inversions here and there for months now but I guess it's time to pull out all the stops...

The herb they recommended is pulsatilla. I had never heard of it before, but I guess it's a homeopathic relaxant of sorts...here's the Spinning Babies page on it: Homeopathy Totally willing to give that a try, just need to get to the store!

Actually I did Hypnobirthing last time, and I'm kind of planning to use it again but to be honest have barely touched the book or recordings because the couple of times I tried to listen to the rainbow relaxation at bedtime like I did last pregnancy, it was annoying the CRAP out of me. It would put me to sleep almost immediately, which is fine, but then it kept waking me up halfway through and then I was having trouble getting back to sleep. So I stopped that. I did find a chance to do the peace sanctuary (my favorite!) relaxation the other day, and that was wonderful. I still remember and use that on my own all the time anyway, but it was nice to actually listen to it and do the whole script again as a good refresher. I think I will try to work that in (maybe during inversions) more over the next few weeks. I'll also add the affirmations toward the end, because I did find those helpful last time.

Ultimately, though, I'm feeling pretty good and laid back about the whole birth thing. I feel like I have a good toolkit of relaxation and positioning strategies to try in the moment, and I don't really feel the need for much more of a refresher--it's so much harder to work in now that I have another kiddo running around, no office to shut the door on during lunch, etc. So I'm just trying to work in what I reasonably can, keep that basic spirit of calm and self-relaxation in mind, and hope it's enough! I am also emailing DH things I find like good spinning babies techniques and positions to try during labor in the event of X so that he feels prepared to have things to suggest. He's also very good about the light touch massage and just listening to me and what I want during labor, so...again, feeling pretty good about that part.

Now if this baby would just get herself into a launching position...

I *think* she is head downish this morning...feels like her butt is up under my belly button with kicks on my right, although I can't locate her head exactly. Have been getting some of those weird shooting groin pains where it feels like my leg suddenly wants to collapse, though, which I think happens when she's got her head down there pushing on stuff, so hopefully a good sign. Although she's been this way before and never stayed...yet. At least it's good to know she is capable and considering it!

Oh, and I think I officially hate backward inversions. I did the most lame one ever last night (one firm, fat pillow) and still I could only stand it for eight minutes and it gave me a ton of rib pain and a lasting headache! At this point, I want her head down less for birth and more so I have an excuse not to have to do those anymore!!! For whatever reason, front ones don't bother me at all, but back ones...UGH.

I hope she did indeed flip and stay head down for you until delivery.

She's hard to read this morning, but I don't feel a head up high and I'm feeling lots of pressure on my pubic bone so I'm hoping that's good.

On another note, I cannot find skullcap tincture or pulsatilla anywhere in this darn town! I have never looked for the 2nd before, but I bought skullcap three years ago with no issue at all. Now everyplace I go says "Oh, we USED to have that...guess it didn't sell well" It's a main ingredient in lots of anti-stress and sleep blends, but I don't want to take all the other stuff mixed in there (or, frankly, stand in a grocery aisle looking up the pregnancy safety of six million different herbs on my phone...) So frustrating! Looks like I'll just have to order online...

yay for pressure! (I guess ) I had a ton of it last night when baby decided to jam his had down into my pelvis. He moved up a little again while I slept. We're getting so close!
Good luck finding the herbs. That's pretty frustrating. Maybe you could call some places in your area and see if they have any before trying to order online?
