Thanks all! Everything happened so quickly and went really well that I'm still wrapping my head around it. Just a small update on us: We got home yesterday morning after two evenings in the hospital (our choice). I'm happy to say my milk has come in this afternoon! We've had a little trouble with him being sleepy and eating so we've had to supplement a little. Thankfully I started producing more colostrum yesterday and we've been able to keep the FF to a minimum. They think a lot of his problem with wanting to sleep so much at first was because he had a "precipitous birth" (under 3 hrs l&d) so he swallowed a bit of "gunk" and had an upset tummy from it. Got him latching properly more and more each day and he hasn't had an formula since the middle of last night so I think all that is behind us. It's still been a chore, but way easier then things were to BF DD.
I will post some pictures and a proper birth story asap.
Glad baby John is latching better each day. I think in your case it was wise to spend more time in the hospital. Let the good progress continue!

Glad to hear BFing is picking up. How are you feeling? I'm so excited to read your birth story!

Gardenbug - I agree the stay was a good thing. Despite how fantastic it went, everything happened so fast that it really took a day to absorb all that had happened.
Shauna - I'm feeling pretty good! Going to invest in some tucks pads as the swelling and minor outer labia tear are easily bothered, but even the afterpains I'm getting used to. Right now the worst thing is the engorgement but I'm keeping an eye on it and trying to manage it well as I am terrified of getting mastitis.
Here's a picture of the kids at the hospital when John was 1 day old :
He's adorable! Congratulations! So glad to hear that you are home and that your milk is in. I know that is a good feeling to have that part going well.
He is adorable!
Glad that BFing is improving.
Things are going well and we survived round one of Christmas. We went to my mom's yesterday and got home late. The visit was nice esp. as they are away a lot during the school year and don't get many opportunities to see the kids. I felt bad for DH as today id his first day back at work and we didn't get to bed until 4 hours before he had to leave.
John's 1 week is this afternoon. I'm excited to see what he weighs. He still looks a little jaundiced to me but his ped said it can look worse before it's better? We have to see a different ped today because ours is at the hospital all week. I know the one we are seeing from childhood and she's okay. She's sort of cold sometimes and I know she pushes formula hard even when there isn't a need. Haven't had to supplement since day 3 yay! Engorgement is still there but improving.
He's been pretty gassy the last few days and doesn't burp well when you try to burp him but he only really seemed bothered once. Hoping DD will do well with my divided attention today. I can call my mom any time to come help there are just a lot of things from our past that make me reserved about being alone with her and having something come up. We haven't had issues in a while and I know she feels like she needs to make up for lost time I just can't totally put my guard down.
