Sounds like your contractions are heading in the right direction Sarah. :D I'm glad you were able to salvage the phone. Otter boxes are amazing for smart phones. DH has one and loves it.
How cute about Ivy snapping at DSS about baby being a girl. I'm sure she'll be head over heels either way.
I can't wait to see what you end up having and see who's right, Ivy or Skylar :)
Fingers crossed that the contractions turn into something for you or just leave you alone!
I think walking always makes contractions pick up. Keep going if you want to encourage them. :) Glad you were able to salvage your phone. I have put my phone in my bathrobe pocket on many occasion, so I think I will learn a lesson from what happened to you.
Hope the contractions turn into something also or leave you alone for a bit.
Well I went for a descent walk in the ravine by our house last night with the dog (left DH with the two little ones who were having a blast playing in the little stream in our back yard). Got only a couple contractions on the walk even though we were gone for about 1/2h. Both were on the up hills! Then I came home, and we put the kids to bed. Then I fell asleep and slept descently (only woke up a couple times with contractinos and went back to sleep). This morning not much is going on - a couple contractions here and there.
Ivy is a hoot. We have a little homebirth book that she has been carrying around everywhere for a couple days. It's called "We're having a home birth". Anyway, yesterday Ivy was telling me everything that was going to happen - "And you are going to push the baby out and make noises like an Elephant. And the baby's head will come out first, and then the body, and then there will be some blood and stuff and then cut the cord, and then... etc..."
It's hilarious. In some ways I think she gets it way better than DSS despite all the conversations we've had with DSS and he was there for Leo's birth!
As for DSS, I wish he was at his mom's house! A couple years ago my parents were here because I thought that Ivy was going to be here early and we tried to get them here for the birth. They were great, but after a week and a bit I felt like I was a walking time bomb and it was rather unnerving. DSS is a million times worse. He and DH have constant bets about "I bet you a Coke that baby will be born before noon tomorrow". DSS is always asking "are you having pains?" "What does it feel like now?" "Do you think the baby will be born today?" "I know it's not going to be born today because you aren't making noises." "I know all about birth because I saw a movie about all different kinds of births." Then DH says,"Really? That sounds cool. Were there any home births in it?" "No."
So I've taken to calling him "Dr."... For me it's a bit of a joke not only because he considers himself the expert, but because I've avoided the traditional "Doctor" for all my pregnancies and now he's here to take that position!
In other news, our friends who have consistently been our "back-up" are now free for the rest of the month (they finished their volunteering at the local Folk Festival this past weekend), and they called last night to say, "Thank you for crossing your legs, and you now have a green light! Any time in August is good!" It was good to hear from them because I was going to wait for another day to let them recover before I gave them a call!
So, all is a go. All we need now is a baby!
I also called the back-up MW again to update her onthe situation. She was glad to hear that I managed to get some sleep last night. She also said that if things seemed to be dragging on too long, that we could try some natural induction stuff or some pain relief, but she would leave that completely up to me. I can totally see the appeal if things were dragging on and I was exhausted, but I think I'm going to wait a couple days before trying anything, especially if I'm feeling OK and getting rest. I'm not against any of the natural induction stuff, simply because if I'm not ready, it won't do anything.
On the other hand, I'm only at 38wk3 days, so why should I be pushing anything for no reason? I also suspect that my body could be ready enough to respond to some induction stuff simply because of all the contractions lately, and it's better to keep baby in longer so I'm going to wait.
On the other hand, I don't mind trying staring this weekend with a (terrible) personal reason taht I'd really like to be somewhere on the 24/25 of August, and I won't want to do that if I'm still preggo or with a 1-2 day old baby! But what's the chances of that? Let's wait and see...
Yes, it's a drag being a "watched pot", but I think it is just great that the kids are excited about the new sib!!! Not every 13 year old would be, and not every 3 year old would know so much about what is going to happen! I hope Leo isn't upset by no longer being the baby! Maybe baby will come on Leo's birthday!!! (Hehehe) And I hope Indy-dog isn't lost in the chaos! Does DH go to work to rest? ;)
Sarah and Leo
I hope baby comes BEFORE Leo's birthday! And I'd really like it to be about 3 weeks difference! Why? Just so we have some spread in the birthdays! Beginning September is already busy enough!
I just FINALLY got the diaper service figured out. Called them and got everything in order. They will drop off the first set of diapers tomorrow. I decided to go with the other diaper service. Don't know why, just a change I guess!
How cute of Ivy to be explaining how baby is going to come out! So adorable. I hope your contractions get you somewhere soon or putter out so you can get a break.
Umm... my water just broke! Not going to call Gardenbug yet - it's a little early in the morning...
Nothing else going on.
Time to go back to bed!
EEEE! So exciting. Hope you get some rest before the big event!
