Congratulations! And thank you for sharing your birth story!

What a great story and you're a saint for tolerating so many people.
Cindy
Yeah, I won't ever have so many people at another birth (if I have one!).
Oh, I forgot to add, the second MW only got there after DSS cut the cord. Baby latched on pretty quickly and just wanted to suck all night. I've never seen such a small mouth open so wide!
Had our first post-partum home visit today. After pains have been nasty, but not as bad as last time yet, except for the first night. I think that my milk is starting to come in.

Congratulations! Your birth sounds like it went well, despite the large audience. Not sure I would have liked that either.

Great story (aside from all the gawkers)! How are you and the little guy adjusting to his presence on the outside? Have you tried EC with him yet?
GRANDMA, PICS!
Congratulations on the arrival of your baby boy! You did so well, despite having such an audience!
Sorry I've been MIA!
Everything is busy here. Baby is doing well, but my nipples are sore as anything. Don't know why, exactly, he seems to have a great latch, and he feeds every 2-3 hours (usually), but still.. OUCH!!! Anyway, DH is out of town for the next 2 nights (boohoo). I even had to get out my nipple shield to get through the night last night. I'm hoping that things start to settle down soon in that department!

I tried to post a quick note on Monday, but then my computer crashed.
In retrospect I think that this was the most painful birth so far - mostly because of the last piece of stubborn cervix. It was also so fast.
I think that the alternate midwife was exactly as she said - way less on intervention than our usual midwife. This, as I said before (I think), was GREAT. As much as baby (still no name) was alert and moving around, he squeaked once a little after he was born, and then was quiet - not breathing. Then he squeaked again a minute or two later squeaked again. Then the same thing again a couple minutes later. I think our midwife would have given him oxygen and tried to stimulate his breathing, but this midwife (Heidi) just watched and let us be. I don't think that anyone other than DH or me touched baby for the first hour after he was born. I really liked that, and I think that his lungs sound more clear than any other baby I've had, incidentally!
Lastly, here's the link to our photographer's web page - she put together a WONDERFUL slideshow of the birth, and it's just beautiful.
