*EXPECTING OUR UNPLANNED SURPRISE...BABY #5....NOT SURE WHEN MY DUE DATE IS YET*
LOL! Running is definitely the word for it. I don't think he has a 'walk' setting. Yeah, I should probably update my signature photos and stuff, but I never got a dandelion photo this year (bad me). And I swear just in the last month Leo has changed drastically. His face is way thinner and more 'little boy' like, he's thinner, his vocabulary has increased drastically, he?s got opinions, and he fights back with his sister and brother! And he is definitely tough and solid (not fat). But he can grab Ivy and pull her down if she is in his way! She only outweighs him by 5 pounds!
ROFL! I'll have to dig up some of those! Sorry. I should find the links and post some of the good parts. My birth stories were very long, though, so I don't know that I should repost them all!
Time to go to the chiropractor!

I usually tell people "the kids are hoping for a pony" when they ask what we're having. Then they give me this weird look as I walk away. I can imagine a convo about not getting an u/s would be quite amusing for a minute and then get really old really fast.
I have one friend that I did tell about the hb (except BFF). She immediately said, "you're so brave". I just said "oh heck no, I'm taking the easy way out this time" that's exactly how I feel about it too. I feel like I'm cheating and just taking the easy way out with no thinking on my feet while in labor or fighting about anything or really doing anything but laboring. I don't have to sleep in an uncomfortable bed after I give birth, I don't even have to move from my bed for days if I choose not to. I don't have to change clothes while in labor if I don't want. I get to do whatever I want while I'm laboring, walk up to the park???? don't mind if I do. No monitors itching my belly!! Oh heavens, and NO NEEDLES!!! It really honestly feels like cheatingand I LOVE IT!!! If I wanted to put some work into it, I'd go back to the hospital willingly and compromise and/or fight about my labor, birth and recovery.
I haven't let DH have any nookie for a while now because I really want to make 38 weeks and I'm afraid that every little thing is going to send me into labor. I have a chiro today that I'm thinking about skipping and setting up for next week. Now watch, I'll be sitting here at 42 weeks begging for natural induction techniquesthat would be just my luck!
Sounds like you get it!!! Nice to have a few people wround who get it. But you know, I consider myself lucky that I don't really get into the conversatino with many, and if I do, I've only had a very few who are not open minded enough to say - "Hey cool! I wish I'd done/could do that".

What's the birthing environment like where you are? Do you personally know others IRL that hb? I know around here it just sucks for NCBers. I'm really not even sure any exist, it's like mermaids, you hear stories about them and sightings but never really see oneI haven't been able to find another person in or around my town that has done a hb and I know just about everyone around here!
There's actually quite a few people around that have home births, most of whom I originally met through the midwife. For Reed I had a different MW and she tried to start up a Meet-up group. I met a woman there, and later we managed to reconnect (about 6 months later) through my doctor. Today she and her husband are some of our best friends.
I have also discovered accidentally that the waldorf school where Ivy has been doing a parent and Tot program has a large population of home birthers. In fact, the teacher has 16yo twins who are home schooled and were home birthed by my MW before it became illegal here for twin home births (considered high risk).
Also, in May 2009, Midwifery became covered by our provincial health care so it's not an out of pocket expense. It was supposed to go under review with the possibility of taking it back out this past April, but it's still covered (thank goodness). For DS1 we had to pay $2500 out of pocket - which was worth it but such a shame considering hospital births are so much more expensive!
However, I had never heard of a homebirther other than my "crazy aunt" who had a free birth I believe back in the 70s. Then a lab mate of mine at university when I was in my early 20s had a home birth in Toronto and raved about it since her DD1 had been an automatic c/s at the hospital because of her small stature (I think she's about 4'8"). Made sense for a million reasons so when I got pregnant, that's what I looked into.

Well, Dh informed me that we have no day home for August... The kids are usually at a day home while we are at work, and I thought I had arranged that for the rest of this week that they would still be there on 'drop in'. Suddenly we have no one to take care of them for the rest of the week, and I called our day home mom and she says that she has a new kid starting tomorrow already so can't take them Wed and Thurs! Next week should be fine because I'm off work (if I'm not too exhausted and baby isn't here yet!)
Hmm... I was going to see if a friend of ours could take care of them, but I haven't been able to contact her all evening... Oy.
ugh, I hope you get something figured out soon. that's such a PITA!
We figured it out! A friend of ours that has two kids with a similar age difference, but 14 years older, is going to take care of them today and tomorrow! They love her and she is totally into being outside and doing cool activities (she was a homeschool moderator for one of the home school groups in town for several years), so I'm THRILLED to have them be with her for a couple days. In fact, if I had a choice, they'd be with her instead of their day home - but I don't think she wants to do that.
Now, with me being on leave starting next week, maybe we can work out something with working together with her and hanging out! We used to do that abunch before we DH and I had kids, so maybe it will work out? That would be WONDERFUL!
Not only that, but the kids LOVE her!
