Hi Janel! How are YOU and your family doing?


DH cracked me up today, I wanted toget to work today (at least) because Aug 1 is my work "anniversary" which means I get an incremental raise, and an extra certain number of days of leave at 100% pay within a year! That means that I get an extra couple hundred dollars a month, and longer pay-out! So baby can come any time now!

I would prefer baby waited until at least Saturday (37 weeks), but my MW says we are cleared for a home birth starting at 36weeks - so all is well.

Oh, and the reason DH cracked me up when I left was instead of saying "Bye! Have a great day!" (or similar) he said "Call me when you go into labour!" LOL! I responded that I'd try to remember!

And when I asked Ivy if she wanted to know what the surprise was this morning (not going to the day home but going to see 'Auntie Connie' for today), she said "Baby is coming today, right?" Had to laugh!

"Baby is coming today, right?"

Oh Ivy, you crack me up! "right?"

Oh my goodness! I just looked at the extra entirtlement for leave at 100% pay and it adds an extra 15 days/year!!! It's the biggest increment (but the final one)!

But I also just discovered something else... Our mini-van (Dodge caravan) is a 7 seater. I assumed I could put 2 car seats in the back and have baby in the middle - then when DSS is with us (every other week), we could put up the second captain's chair (they fold down into the floor, and if someone else came, I assumed DSS could squeeze between the two car seats in the back. Unfortunately, it seems that Dodge thinks that even in a 7 person van, there should only be one car seat spot available for the back seat that has 3 seatbelts, effectively turning the 7 person van into a 6 person van! ARGH! One of the reasons we have the van is because it fits 7 people!!!

Anyone have this same issue? Was there another solution?

Great news on the anniversary and pay raises!

As far as the van seating goes...I had a Dodge Grand Caravan also and it broke down on us in December so we had to buy a new van. We ended up with a Honda Odyssey. We haven't yet tried 3 carseats in the very back yet, but we have two captain chairs in the middle where we will stick DD2 who is almost 3, and then the baby's car seat will be in the other one. Then DS and DD1 will be in the backseat in their boosters so I am guessing they will fit back there ok since its just the two of them.

Good luck figuring it out! Finding enough seats for everyone is always tough.

Hmm... I think I found a retrofit kit to add more anchors... we'll see how that pans out. Maybe Ivy will grow quickly and gain another 10 pounds and fit in a booster seat? hmmm...

As for car seats, we went out last week and bought two new ones so that we could fit 3 across the back of our Toyota Echo... Cheaper than a new car, but $300 each? Really? They should give you tax breaks for car seats considering everyone has to have one!

But they are still in the box! Maybe we'll get around to installing them this weekend. Cool, though... we chose bright red!

Car seats are such a pain. Don't even get me started on my own ordeal. Have you looked for solutions on Carseat.org? The ladies on there can be quiet catty but you can find some decent information. Just don't say anything about FFing a child under 15

Did you get Radians? I'm thinking that might be the solution to our dilemma. Cheaper than new cars .. barely.

yep, radians (called Diono here - or they just changed their name). We also only got 2, not 3 because we can't return car seats. If we have to get another, so be it...
