Yes, I will look fabulous in a maternity dress and a nursing bra that already doesn't fit me anymore. :p Eh. Whatever. I'll have a cute baby attached to me that will distract away from the frumpiness, right? lol
And yes, it's been a very long training that's involved living 3 different places. Thankfully Friday DH gets to realize his childhood dream! All the suckiness is paying off!
Thought I'd share two photos from DH's graduation. So proud of him! Zoe was great during the long dinner and graduation. She saved up her grumpiness (can't blame her since she's still really bogged down by her cold!) for when we got home. HA!
The pink ring sling is the one I got from AnnaRO. It worked out great where I doubt if most people ever noticed my dress! ;) The long tail was perfect for a very covering nursing cover. I think the other wife at our table (her kiddo is about 5 months) was shocked that I did nurse during dinner. She always brought formula for when they're not home and I think it's sadly affected her supply. I kept inviting her to LLL meetings (they're even on base where we both live!), but she always turned them down. She made a comment that makes me think that she's not able to nurse anymore. I didn't want to ask and bring up bad feelings during what is a joyous occasion. :(
Speaking of babies though, any ideas other than nose suctioning, saline and BM in the nose, humidifiers, keeping upright, and shower/steam for helping Zoe out? Over night was HORRIBLE.
I'm so glad you had a good time and you were able to deal with Zoe's fussiness in the comfort of your home. The sling looks awesome and what a great color! How awesome that you have LLL meetings available on base too. BFing support is such a huge part of BFing success. I have seen a lot of moms go through the same thing with NIP and formula that made them shy away from support groups or nursing longer. :( I feel like those I know who have had that happen and then would see me DD nurse were are always a little uncomfortable.
I wish I had a suggestion for the congestion but you listed everything that comes to mind. Colds are so tough especially when they're so little. I hope she's over it soon! She looks so content in the sling.
You guys look great! Congrats to your DH! WTG nursing hervwhile you were there too :)
I wish I hadcsome advice for the cold/congestion :( I hope you all feel better soon!
You all look wonderful!! WTG making it work with nursing there, too. :)
So sorry Zoe's struggling with her cold, still. It so hard when they're so tiny and there's so little you can do...you already listed everything I know of too...if none of that's helping, it sounds like you may just have to ride this one out :(
I'm never going to get to sleep am I? At this point I'd love 3 hours. I never did get sleep after my long labor. I'm just adding to that sleep depravation still. Oy.
You looked so nice all dressed up! Great pics!
You are doing all I can think for the nose. I put in the saline and let it sit for like 2 minutes before bringing them upright and/or suctioning. Gets it looser and easier to get out. Easier said than done on a tiny nose.
You will get sleep some day. I'm still awaiting that day myself (in the 4 hour club at best) but it will come! At least your in good company
You really look radiant in those pics. I'm so proud of both of you for getting through the last 2.5 years. Training must be stressful enough and you managed to make two beautiful babies in that time!
How sad about your wife friend. I've known a few women who FF'd in public and it eventually led to early weaning. I feel like the best we can do is NIP every chance we can get so that it gradually becomes more normal. Perhaps you've inspired her to try NIP for her next baby! I think I've done a lot for my childless younger friends and family members. Just seeing me doing it and raving about how much easier it makes things must have some impact, right?
I don't have any advice for Zoe's cold :(. You're already pulling out all my go to remedies.
Is your family still there? Can you beg them to let you nap whenever Zoe's not nursing?
All family is gone. My FIL left Saturday morning. Thankfully DH and I worked out a deal last night. He went to bed at 11pm and I stayed downstairs with Zoe. She did much better last night than the night before at least! I did get to doze on the couch some. Then at 4:30am after Zoe nursed really well I woke DH up and he took over downstairs and I went upstairs to sleep. He brought her up to me to nurse but otherwise I got to sleep - until 11am! I feel SO much better right now. Just getting some baby free sleep definitely made a positive difference with my cold. Now I'm hoping that Zoe improves where we can take her out of the house guilt free later in the week. I really want to take the family to one of the several big Christmas displays out here.
That's great, Jackie! Sleep will help you all get so much better...at least you're getting all this out of the way before Christmas!
