I love the henna tattoo - that is SO cool! I have never heard of a birth blessing before, but that sounds absolutely amazing!! I love the idea of it!! I have tons of pregnant friends, I might have to throw one for someone!
So excited to follow your homebirth journey!!
I didn't have my boys at my home birth for the same reason. Their energy would have just been a distraction for me. I fed off of the calm atmosphere while laboring. It was exactly what I needed. They were in the other room sleeping though and as soon as they woke up they got to meet little brother. It was perfect actually. I love the henna! I got a henna on my belly as well the week before I went into labor. I loved it! I plan on getting another one with my next baby as long as we still live in the same house and my neighbor is up for doing it or having one of her daughters do it.

So I had an appt with my midwife yesterday. Things seem to be going along well. She confirmed I was GBS negative, which is great because I am allergic to penicillin and that is the only antibiotic they would administer at home. My blood pressure was 120/70 which was normal for me. Baby is now lying in an oblique position though, with his head kind of near my right hip instead of in my pelvis. His bum is up near my left ribcage. She advised me that I should call her immediately if my water breaks before contractions because it could be a dangerous situation. My doula is coming over tonight to help me with some exercises I can do to try and get the baby into a better position. He has been in this position for several weeks now.

I'm excited you're having a home birth Kristin! I wish you all the best of luck! Babies have sure been in weird positions it seems like this year- on my BB lots of moms, me included, had babies who were head up for most of our pregnancies.
I hope your little one turns down into a great birthing position!

Well - I had a very tiring weekend. Had contractions Friday night for a lot of the night. Just crampy and annoying. Then they disappeared Saturday and Sunday. Then Sunday night I had a couple of contractions about an hour after I went to bed. It's frustrating. I've never had contractions before I was fully in labour with my first 2 births.
I am very ready to be done at this point, but at the same time I realize I could have 2 more weeks left!

Hang in there! You will be holding your baby before you know it and you will forget how uncomfortable you are now. Were you early, on time, or late with your other births? That may indicate what this one will look like, although I know each labour is different. Try to get some relaxation in.
Sounds like you had a wonderful birth blessing. Love the henna!
Yay for being GBS negative and being all set for your HB. Sorry to hear that you had a tiring weekend. How is LO's position since your appt.?
