I hope that your LO is in the right position when it's time for your birth! But I wouldn't stress about it if you feel that the baby is moving in and out of position - I think that your body will make sure baby is in position when the time is right! But it definitely wouldn't hurt to do whatever you can to ensure it..

    Happy Due Date!

Do you have any hunches about when or how he might arrive? Any days you *don't* want him to arrive? Has he been named yet?

Thanks! I have a feeling he'll be here either tomorrow or Saturday. I guess there is no specific date I want him to arrive, the sooner the better in my books. I suppose for convenience the weekend would work best for DH because then he could work tomorrow. This weekend is a long weekend here in Canada. Monday is a holiday. So if he works tomorrow and the baby comes after work he will have 4 weeks off starting next Tuesday. I'm excited to have him home and will definitely need his help.

We *think* we have a name chosen. I will announce it when he is born, because it's still subject to change. We've had a lot of trouble coming up with a boys name that we both agree on! We used our favourite names (and family middle names) for our first 2 boys. It's a very traditional name.

Just wanted to update on my appointment today. Midwife took my blood pressure and it was 130/70 (which she was happy with) The baby is still in the oblique position. She told me that if my water breaks without contractions page her right away as it could be an emergency. She said check my vagina for the cord and if I think I feel it call 911 She also said to basically go on all fours with my pelvis elevated on a slant.

She then checked me, and it was very painful. I'm not sure if that is normal, I don't remember that feeling from my other kids. Anyways, I am 4cm and 50% effaced. It's somewhat comforting to know that the contractions I have been having are doing something. I realize it doesn't really tell me when the baby will come, but it's more progress than I have ever made this early on.

Only sad news from the appt is that my midwife is off call until Monday morning at 8am. So, if I go into labour this weekend I have to call my backups. It's okay, one of them is a friend of mine, and the other I have met and seems nice. I'd really like my own midwife to be there though. I guess we'll just have to see how things progress.

We talked about the plan for the next little while, and I will go in and see her Monday (if the baby is not born) and she will do a stretch and sweep. It was nice she offered to come in on her holiday to do this. Next Thursday if I make it that far I will go for an ultrasound (Biophysical profile) and I suppose depending on the results they will go from there. I really hope I don't make it that far though!

    Happy due date!

And yay for some progress! That is awesome!! Although I hope baby waits until your midwife is back. I hope baby turns for you soon so you don't have to worry so much when you go into labor!

If I remember correctly, once I started dilating past 1cm or so, that is when the checks started to hurt - so it probably has a lot to do with the fact that you are 4 cm already. Congrats on your progress - it really does mentally help when you know that all of those contractions are actually doing something!

I never had checks just while pregnant...but I did get checked a couple of times during labor, and I definitely remember that not being a nice feeling. So sounds like that could be normal- as Melissa said too.

    How you feeling today???

Totally exhausted from being up the better part of last night with contractions. My doula came over this morning to do some kind of pelvic release. DH stayed home from work too so I could get a bit of rest. This afternoon we ran some errands and tonight we plan to go out for dinner. Hope this baby gets moving into the right position. I don't know how many more nights I can take of contractions with no baby
