OK, I just have to share this...the hospital I am delivering at is very NCB, in fact the majority of their deliveries are NCBs because the other hospital in town is a HUGE teaching hospital and not so NCB friendly, so everyone who wants to go natural goes to this hospital. Anyway. We took DS there yesterday to visit just so he would know where we are and be able to picture it when we disappear off to the "hospital" in a few weeks. He was really cute, he held both of our hands almost the whole time and asked lots of questions. Anyway, we decided to sit in the family room for a bit since he will likely spend a fair amount of time there. They have children's books and we just sat and read. So, all of the rooms were in use when we were there, and since it is a NCB friendly place, we kept hearing screaming and moaning coming from the rooms! LOL! It was amazing and scary and funny and made me a little emotional all at the same time. DH was laughing and like "yeah, ladies!!! Tell it!" DS was looking around and said "I hear someone!" He didn't seem worried about it though. He kept asking to read more books. I was a little nervous it would make DS scared that mommy was going to go to the place with the screaming women
Thanks for telling your story Maggie! Sounds like it got a bit scary there at the end, glad everything worked out the way it did. With DD they lost the heartbeat completely when my water broke and I ended up with internal monitoring too. We didnt have any of the same issues with DS. Hopefully you wont this time either.
I am so excited to see the first of our July lodges! It is getting so close!!!!!

Great idea to take DS to visit the hospital now so that he is comfortable.
TFS your story. I'm so sorry that it got crazy at the end of DS1's birth. I'm glad everything turned out ok. Hopefully it will stay nice and peaceful this time around. Yay for a NCB hospital!
What part of CA did you guys used to live in? I totally understand wanting to be closer to familly. We want to move back to So.Ca in a few years for that same reason. Its hard to be hours, or states in your case, away from family.

OK, had my 36 week appt today. Decided to go ahead and get the GBS swab and hope it is negative so that we just don't even have to worry about declining anything. If it's positive, I guess I'll decide then whether or not to decline the antibiotics. The MW checked my cervix while she was at it, and I am 1 cm and 50% effaced. I know it means next to nothing, but the way I see it, 1 cm down, 9 to go! Hopefully not much more happens for a couple weeks though, I'd like to make it to 38 weeks anyway. My belly has dropped so much, it almost looks silly. He is super low in my pelvis. Still posterior, but less posterior than he was, if that makes any sense. I'll just keep doing my cat/cows!
Welcome to your lodge! And thanks for sharing your birth story. It was interesting to read. Great job doing it all natural and very cool you used hypnobabies and it helped so much. I am going to try and go the hypnobirthing route this time around and I hope it helps me a lot also. I did my first three births completely natural just doing my own thing...didn't have a method or anything to help me with it, so I am excited to be trying hypnobirthing this time around. I hope this next birth for you goes more smoothly and not too rushed or intense or sometimes scary. Looking forward to following you on your journey!
That birth does sound like a whirlwind, thankfully the doc was willing to try other options than just jumping to a c-section. I hope this birth is much more calm for you.
