Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I still need to write up my birth story but finding the time to do that with 3 kids 4 and under and my hubby already back to working it is not easy! I will say it was my fave birth of the 3. he was born in the caul ( the amnotic sac), with his hand by his face and being 9lbs and I did not have a single tear! Breastfeeding is going very well but I my right nipple is more tender and painful then I was hoping for. His latch is perfect so I think it just needs some more time to toughen up. It is getting better each day. This kid loves to eat! He is feeding every 2ish hours. He nurses for around 30 mins total and almost always takes both sides. The midwife came and did his newborn screening on Sunday and then came again on tues to weigh him and such. He was down to 8lb 8oz which she said was great. I am sur he gaining well now as my milk has been in for a couple days now. We have been super blessed with family and friends bringing us tons of meals and my mom brought us groceries and more poeple have signed up to bring us meals next week.
My husband leaves tonight for his mission trip to Mexico. I think we will stay at my moms while he is gone next week. Not sure what I want to do yet. I feel so good I honestly think I could handle the kids by myself but it is nice to know she can give me breaks when I need. Anyway all in all it is going super well and I am enjoying every minute with this little man.
Marcia, that is so cool that he was born in the caul! And isn't it just amazing how you were able to birth such a big baby so quickly WITHOUT having your water broken? (Yes, that was HEAVY sarcasm!) Your body is amazing!
Sounds wonderful that you're feeling so great... but if it were me, I would go to your mom's. Keep riding the high by having enough help...instead of slowing sliding down into exhaustion, etc. You know? Plus also, take the extra help, even if you don't need it, just so you can spend extra time with Weston.... I mean... he's only so little once!
