Also remember that EDD's, even with this other method of determining, are still just estimates. Every woman's body is different. And especially if you've gone longer than your "due date" in your previous births, it might mean that your body just gestates longer than the "average" woman. If you think of all the natural induction methods as ways to prep your body so that when your baby is ready, so are you, then you might find that you have much more success.
Also it's very possible that when you were checked at your last appointment, that your adrenaline levels were on the higher side with the hopes of finding out that you were dilating... which might have caused your cervix to "un-dilate" even if before the check you had been more open.
I'm just saying focus on listening to your body and trusting it. If you're having pressure waves and it feels like they're working, then trust that they are!! And try to resist getting checked if you can, b/c it doesn't really give you any useful information at this point.

I completely agree of course that ANY estimate is just an estimate. However this method of estimating seems to me to be a bit more realistic and nuanced than just slapping 40 weeks on everyone. I think a lot of unnecessary stress is caused by poorly calculated dates. I know I would have had a much easier time in my last week and even in my birth if I wasn't constantly being told I was "late"

I have always assumed my gestational period was longer than 40 weeks. I've allowed outside influences along with my own exhaustion to get me excited about the idea of going sooner rather than later. I don't plan to try the cohosh until I'm at least 41 weeks since I agree that no induction method will work if my body is not close to ready (DD2 helped confirm that ). I also don't expect them to suddenly put me in labor, I think it will just help get me closer. The tea I'm having I'm considering as prepping my body.
I tried to avoid the cervical check at 39 weeks and my OB was having no part of it. The only reason I'm okay with having the check after 40 weeks is that I do believe the sweeps I had with DD2 helped move things along. I won't have another check until Monday when I'm 41+1.

You want the 30C of each. If you're wanting to get things started from scratch, do this:
Day 1: Cimicifuga 30C, two pellets every hour for eight hours
Day 2: Caulophyllum 30C, two pellets every hour for eight hours
    Day 3: nothing
Day 4: Cimicifuga 30C, three pellets every two hours alternated with Caullophyllum 30C, three pellets every alternate two hours. If nothing is happening after four hours, increase to every half hour. Cimicifuga on the hour, Caullophyllum on the half hour.

If you are already having some contractions & want to help keep them coming, getting stronger & more regular, then go straight to the Day 4 regimen. Good luck!

Thank you so much! I've started having menstrual cramps this morning. They started around 1:30 and have continued. I haven't had cramps like this since I was a teenager. They are at times painful, not lasting long, but definitely coming on often. I was going to start timing them, but it's hard to figure out when they stop and start.
Baby is moving around. I'm not letting myself get excited about this, but at least it's something.

Ooo, something different sounds like a good sign to me. I hope it's the start of baby coming!

I like the sound of that! June 28 would be an excellent birthday, kiddo. Come on out!

(Ha, I just realized that today was my EDD and my daughter's EDD! Neither of us came anywhere near "on time" though )

Cramps have continued. No real change in intensity or timing. I'm off to my NST and I'm going to have them check me to see if it is possible to do a sweep. It's near the hospital so we're prepared to stay near by since traffic is unpredictable and alot can change in a few hours.

Oh, menstrual-type cramps are a very good sign! I really wanted Tiven to be born on June 28th. It was a beautiful, peaceful Monday nine years ago. I'd gone to the Pride Parade the day before, hoping that all that walking & standing & truck food might have helped things along, but nope, not my kid. Hope yours is more cooperative!
