Thanks ladies!!!! We went home later that day! YAY!!!! It was a fast and furious labour and I'm so happy how it went!!! I'll update you ladies more later. He seems to LOOOOVE the boob like Simon and i'm getting a bit sore so we're seeing a lactation consultant to check latch, just because his mouth is soooo tiny! Simon's was tiny too and I remember it being a bit tricky as well.

Well I'm going to try to get the birth story in here. Shouldnt be too long so hopefully I can finish it in one sitting!

So as you all know my ob was pushing for induction due to elevated bp and baby being "big". But my bp had been good for the past couple of weeks but baby was still measuring large.

Anyhoo I had avoid induction on Tuesday by delaying calling in. But was told I had to go in for a NST just to make sure everything was ok. They ended up calling me in earlier than our orginally scheduled time but that was ok. When I got there my bp was sky high!!!! Like 170s/100s!! Which I found crazy since it was 120/70 the previous day. But they took several readings both electric and manual and it only lowered slightly. Which really makes me wonder about the nurse at my obs office, but i guess it may have just suddenly went up. My bloodwork was all ok though I did have a headache. So induction was going to happen.

I was still only 2-3 cm when checked. They started the pitocin drip around 3-330 pm. Within a few minutes I got a strong BH and continued to get them so I was hopeful that things would go quickly. But they continued only being BH. I was checked at nearly 7 and to my dissapointment was still only 3 cm! The OB on call mentioned breaking my water but I asked to wait since I was reading about how it can be harder for posterior babies to turn this way (though I didnt know if Deacon was posterior or not). He agreed to wait but said that sometimes the pitocin works better with broken water and that if I waited too long that when they broke it it could be sudden and fast and hard labour and I wouldnt have a chance for an epidural if I wanted. I was ok with that as I really wanted to try without one.

At about 9pm I was checked and was STILL 3cm! ARG. Still have only tightenings at most. Agreed to have my water broken. By 10pm I was 5 cm and having contractions back to back, sometimes with no resting tone between them, and double barrel contractions (I had been walking alot in the hallways this whole time but it got so bad I could only roll around in bed). They kept turning down my pitocin but they contractions would not let up until they had it almost off again (was at 19units/hr down to 5 within an hour to get them to be reasonable). They contractions were so intense but bareable WHEN i got a break. After it became apparent I was getting no break I asked for an epidural. The anethestist came pretty fast and gave me inital freezing he said would last about an hour, then I can a pain button to push if I need more after that point. That epidural was a blessing! It let me rest while they were able to get my contractions back to a normal pattern! Deacon tolerated all of this wonderfully!!!

Around midnight the epidural was mostly gone but still there somewhat I would have to assume as I found the contractions still quite manageable and did not give myself more pain medication. I was checked and was 7 cm, this was around midnight. At this time the contractions picked up again but still ok as that I did not give myself more medication. I started to get alot of pressure in my bum around 2pm, but no urge to push yet. I was check and was 10 cm! But told Deacon was still really high and should only push if I had the urge. He was at -1. As we waited he started having some decels during contractions but recovered quickly. I would flip from side to side to help him but close to 3 they were getting low, into the 50s at times ,though always fast recovery. I was still at -1 but they decided I need to push to get him out before he got in more distress. They had me do one practice push and was told to stop so they could get the OB.

Once the OB arrived, Deacon was out in 2 contractions! It was the most extraordinary feeling in the world! With Simon I was totally frozen so felt nothing. The epidural was completely gone by this point so I felt everything and I must say the sensation as he came out was out of this world!!! I was laughing and crying in joy as he came out!!!! They put him on my chest right away and he was crying! DH told me he was a boy! I couldnt get over how small he was (especially when being told he was "big"). Deacon Sirius was born at 306am! He did well right away but wouldnt give them any big cries. But his oxygen levels were good. His apgars were 9 and 9. He breastfed within 30 mins like a champ!!! I'm totally in love!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deacon Sirius weighed 7 lbs 4 ounces and 20 inches long at birth. Was 6 lbs 14 oz today which is good. Hopefully he wont have much more loss and will start gaining soon when my milk comes in!!!!! Big brother Simon loves him and it's just adorable!!! I was so lucky that Deacon is O+ like me so no severe jaundice and got to go home 10 hours after he was born!!! I had a small tear on my own that they stitched and is waaaaay better than last times episiotomy!!

I hope I havent forgotten anything! It was a wonderful experience!!!

I'm so glad that you got your #1 desire - a much better delivery experience!!! :cheer:

The pit contractions you describe sound like what I had with Aiden, only I wasn't nearly as far dilated as you were. Yes, not having breaks between them is rough and awful. And add in double peaks. UGH. ((hugs))

I LOVE that you got to go home so soon!

    Congrats again Mona!

OH, and can I just say how amused am I by your "big baby?"

Ditto what Jackie said in all respects. You wanted a better birth experience and that's what you got.

    Congratulations!! We need more pics!

Congratulations! I am glad you got the better birth experience you were looking for. WTTW, Deacon!

I am also amused by your 'big baby.' Just goes to show those late ultrasounds just aren't good at predicting birthweight.

Agreeing with everything previously said, I am so glad you got such a better birth experience this time around and did all you needed to do to ensure the best outcome for yourself and little Deacon. How awesome that you were able to go home so soon after his birth.

Can't wait to see more pictures!
