Well, I found out my friend did have a c-section... and it was because they said her pelvis wasn't big enough for the baby to fit through. And the baby was just under 7lbs so not big at all. I'm really sad for her because I don't know what this means for future babies. I mean, I've heard that before because doctors just want to get the baby out, but she labored for over 24 hours and had a midwife and a doula and they still said that. I'm going to see her today so I will probably get the full story then. I just want to offer her my support and love and make sure she knows that she did an awesome job anyway. I can relate!
Anyway, I might ask my midwife about options for the birthing pool. DH fully expected me to be in the bathtub but I told him to be open to me not being there. It seems a lot easier for clean up purposes though. Not sure about a portable tub though w/ cleanup.
We're going to go ahead and nail down our home birth first, but I do have some friends who are pretty close that DH might be able to drop off there. No one can really pick up our kids because that would require car seat switches and honestly it's just easier to take them somewhere. I'm really really hoping that I labor through the night and the kids aren't even awake/barely awake when I give birth. Then maybe someone could just come here and watch them.
So my Saturday was good! I got to go out by myself for the afternoon - got my hair done, a pedicure, and a two hour massage! Woot! Unfortunately the hubs doesn't like my hair, says it's "not a pregnancy hair cut" but oh well.
I posted this on my BB but posting it here too:
So last night I didn't sleep well at all. I got up to pee and all kinds of pain just rippled through my body. Ech.
On Saturday I found some pink tinged show in my underwear and then this morning I had more of it and diahhrea to boot. Also baby must have been pressing on my cervix because he/she had the hiccups, then would move around and ouch!
Anyway, I'm wondering about the show because I've been using hibiclens because I'm strep B positive and it's a red color... but I do it every other night and the pink show comes up the second morning, not the morning after I do it. I've also been having heavier discharge in general and I know the loose stools can mean labor.
I don't know if this is it or not; I would be surprised because I'm just at 38 weeks and my others waited until 40+ weeks to come.
DH is a little nervous because we still need to talk to the midwife about delivery options so we're going to try to meet w/ her today if we can. I feel like so much still needs to be done. I've been pestering DH to get the clothes down from the attic the whole weekend and he hasn't done it yet. It's frustrating to rely on someone else because I really can't do it myself.
Here is a picture from this morning:
Also, it seems like every time baby moves quite a bit, I feel pain down low - through my cervix probably and also lower back. I did have some light lower back pain in labor w/ Noel too. Sometimes it feels just like that...
If I see the midwife today I might ask her to check me.
What the heck is a 'pregnancy haircut'? Your cut is really cute, short and practical too. Besides, it'll be a 'mommy haircut' mighty soon.

Yes, that's the cut in the picture. Who knows what DH is thinking, I guess he doesn't think it goes with the pregnant me. I told him that at least he had only a few more weeks of that!!
Anyway, midwife checked me and I'm not dilated, baby is still pretty high, cervix is thick so sounds like just painful BH and pure practice. I bet this baby will follow in my others' footsteps (40+5, 40+6).
But we are now officially prepping for a home birth unless something changes!
Sounds like you are set up for following your other births. Sorry about all the pains though. As for the pool, renting from my midwife it came with a cleaning kit. A pump to pump the water out and everything. It was actually an easy clean up and the midwife did all of it. I don't even really remember them cleaning it up and I was right next to it the whole time.
Either way you will have a great birth! Your birth last time was amazing!
I meant to ask about a birthing tub - I will have to see!
Went to Target today and took some things back and bought some more things! So fun! I got a foam mat for the baby room, Aden + Anias blankets (which were on sale for $30 plus I had a 20% coupon so they were like $25!), a couple toys, etc. I even got a cute monkey sorting toy for my baby for Christmas! And I'm planning on buying a bunch of things online as well so I can use my 10% off registry card on all of them. Woot! So excited!
Vicki asked me to xp this for her here:
And its a.... boy! Judah was born at 8:30 pm today. 8 lbs 4 oz 21.5 in Labor was long and pushing was intense but I was able yo do it all nsturally with no complications. I will try to post a pic from my laptop tomorrow. Elizabeth you can c&p this to my lodge too.
