Love the photo, and love your attitude! I'm feeling much the same way...it's nice. So much nicer than impatience and anxiety! And yeah, you've totally got this.

Love that photo! Your boys are gorgeous. *swoon*

I never really thought about eating during labor, but my midwives kept feeding me. I just found myself with bites of hard-boiled eggs and spoonfuls of peanut butter or yogurt in my face and I'd open my mouth. I'm glad they did that because there's no way I could have gone as long as I did without some sustenance. I did start napping between contractions after a while, I dozed off in the tub & my poor midwife was holding my head up, and I dozed off while lying with DH but I made him keep a hand on my belly & wake me when a contraction would start. Waking up in the middle of a contraction is NOT FUN.

You're right, contractions without Pitocin is absolutely do-able! Even if your water breaks, if you keep their hands out, there's actually very little risk of infection so give your body a couple of days to see if contractions will start before agreeing to Pitocin. The 24 thing has never been proven to be beneficial, it's just hospital policy.

And zofran at the start of labor helps so I can eat early on.
Just gonna pipe in to say that I have used valerian root tincture very successfully for myself and my clients to help them rest when labor was wearing them down. The momma's generally get at least an hour of sleep with almost epidural level pain-relief! And they wake up refreshed and often having progressed quite a bit during their nap! Might be worth having some on hand.

Love the photo of you and the boys. Looks like they love their momma.

I hear ya on the stamina. Its hard dealing with labor on no sleep. I also agree with you about the regular contractions. I know that a natural birth for me will be possible again because I know I can handle my own contractions for 13 hours and pitocin contractions for 4 hours. I just don't know what pushing feels like. You got this girl. I think that if things are progressing slowly that you are just ripening for the big day and it may go really smoothly.

Ayelet, interesting about the Valerian root...

still just waiting. Still having the odd contraction here and there but nothing exciting.

I tried to eat during labor with my first two, but without zofran I can't keep anything down, so it doesn't do much good. I've already informed my MWs that I'll be taking zofran at the first sign of nausea or when I'm sure it's labor.

A little update. I'm having some orange/red spotting. I was surprised how close to panic I came when I saw the red on the toilet paper. After months of being terrified of any spotting (because of the previa) it's hard to reassure myself that it's probably just bloody show. I've been told I don't have to call with bloody show, but if it does pick up I'll have to call and probably go in. I have no idea what happens next in that scenario.

I'm trying to take a few deep breaths. It's just spotting right now. I had bloody show (although more mucous than blood) with #1 and #2 about 2 days before labor started, so I've been here before. It. Is. Okay.

ETA: Interestingly, I've been saying for months that I think baby will come on the 14th. I guess we'll see.

and... nothing. Last night there was the spotting. It stopped, so we tried DTD. I had 3-4 hours of contractions. I tried to sleep through them, so never really timed them, but I'd guess they were 10-15 minutes apart. This morning I feel like I could have weeks left. I even tried checking my cervix again, figuring it must be doing something, and if anything it feels longer and firmer than a few days ago. This is so weird.

I'm exhausted (middle of the night contractions will do that, huh?) and a bit disappointed. I was really hoping baby would come this weekend so I wouldn't have to embark on another week of school and activities with the kids. At least it's a holiday so we don't have our usual crazy Monday. I don't know how I'll make it through next Monday if baby hasn't come yet. Maybe I'll call my ILs and beg them to help.

(((hugs))) Just checking in now. I hope you're able to get some rest before labor kicks in in earnest. Going through it exhausted is THE WORST.

Very interesting about the valerian, Ayelet...I could have used that last time!
