You are crazy to want pitocin over cohosh. Pitocin was awful once they pushed it past level 4. I was dry heaving and contractions were unbearable. I haven't tried cohosh or castor oil, but I imagine they can't be nearly as bad.
Agreed with the bolded! Pitocin is horrible stuff and best left to the worst case scenarios, which is why I finally agreed to it even though I was a VBAC. It was my last resort after 2.5 days of labor to try to prevent another c-section, and it was awful. It created an entirely new set of contractions in addition to what my body was already doing and what I was already dealing with. Horrible stuff, don't do it if you have better options.

oh, I know how horrible pitocin is! I've had it with two of my labors. But, I also know it works for me and works quickly. I really want to avoid it this time. But castor oil sounds pretty miserable, too, and I don't know that it would work, so I'm not sure it would be a better option and I'd rather not test it.

Happy EDD. I'm heading to my appointment soon. Hopefully it will be uneventful.

Well, it wasn't totally boring, but it all turned out fine.

Everything about me looks completely healthy. But, my belly was measuring 35cm (5 weeks behind). It was 37cm 2 weeks ago. The MW asked if the baby felt much lower and I said: "No. He doesn't feel low at all to me this morning." So, the MW decided to do a very gentle, very cautious cervix check to confirm. His head was high (little monkey wiggles back up every night while I sleep). But, my cervix is very soft and very stretchy and at least 2cm. She said she didn't want to see how far it could stretch because of the low placenta. No membrane sweep for the same reason. She didn't mention how effaced I was. Maybe it was hard to tell while being gentle.

Since my belly seemed small and baby wasn't super low and the fluid was low at my u/s 2 weeks ago, we decided together to be cautious and do an u/s. Thankfully, everything looks great. The fluid is a lot higher than it was 2 weeks ago! It went from 7 to 12, which is a perfect 50th percentile, and there was a great pocket, too. Baby is still at the 39th percentile, like 2 weeks ago, and estimated at 7lbs 9oz. I wonder how all that is hiding in there! They weren't able to see where the placenta ends because baby's head was in the way.

I have a BPP and appointment next Friday if I somehow make it that far. I'm so glad to know he's doing fine in there.

ETA: Oh, and she said that with the low placenta she would strongly advise against any home jump-start techniques except DTD (and drinking RRL tea is fine). So, we'll be patient.

Glad it all turned out fine! I can't remember whether I mentioned it here but I was measuring 35 at my 40 week appt too. Midwife said given my long torso and her position, though, she wasn't worried.

1:30am. I've been contracting every 8 minutes for at least an hour and a half. I was trying to doze through them, but got up to have a snack and see if changing position would do anything. It feels like labor starting, but I'm worried it will stop again. I'll give it half an hour. If they continue or pick up I'll give my MW a call to let her know we might be on for this morning.
They're less intense now that I'm up, but with my natural labor lying down made contractions much harder to tolerate.
