Thanks, Amanda. I don't know what they'll be comfortable with because of the placenta. Anyone else have ideas? I'd love a list of things to ask to try first. It helps me feel a little more in control to plan ahead, just in case.

My opinion is questions don't hurt, might as well ask and get the birth you want if it's possible.

I can't see how nipple stimulation would be a bad idea. I mean, you're having contractions anyway, so why not try to make more of them? And none of the natural things are going to work if your baby & body aren't ready. Do you have some EPO? If they don't want you to insert it vaginally, then take it orally.

I would hesitate with AROM, as it puts you on the clock (24 hours the want the baby out. At least with Pitocin, they don't make that a requirement.

Try the abdomnial lift from spinning babies! I swear that's what did it for me...do it every time you feel a contraction coming. He might just be slightly out of position...I also did one 30 second inversion (suggested here: Is this labor or not?)

    Can't hurt!

Thinking of you.......keep hoping to come on and find good news! Soon...

In my case they knew soon as they put me on the Pitocin the baby would be there quick (she delivered an hour after me going on Pitocin), so they did AROM first to avoid drugs, it didn't work but it apparently does in some cases especially if mom is having contractions. Still doesn't hurt to ask.

I did try some nipple stimulation the other night when i was contracting. It made them closer, but no more intense. They spaced out as soon as I stopped, so I figred it wasn't time. I was also a little wary of doing it.
I was told not to try EPO. Not sure why. But, we're DTD nightly, so I'm getting prostaglandins.
I dislike the idea of AROM, given my experiences with SROM. If we get to the point where they really want to induce it might be worth trying before pitocin (I respond to pit really, really quickly.)
I'll try those, Leigh. Enjoy your sweet newborn!
ETA: I'll definitely try the abdominal lift. But... not unless DH is home! It sounds like if it works it can work fast.

EPO can thin the blood so maybe that is why. Alternate walking with resting. Will they/can they sweep membranes?

Nope, no membrane sweep. They could dislodge the edge of the placenta is they did one. Good guess on the EPO. I was pacing the house knitting earlier today.
I just thought about the nipple stim more. I have had permission to BF this whole pregnancy (in spite of the previa) so I can't see how that wouldn't be allowed. Too bad DS3 doesn't like colostrum. He weaned 4 months ago and still asks for milk sometimes, but won't nurse for more than a moment.

I'm thinking a little positioning work may really do it, especially given how far he is hanging out in front. Good call on waiting for DH! Really hope it helps. Certainly can't hurt at least!
