I added DS3's birth story above.

ETA: hah. I completely forgot to include their birth stats. The pregnancy brain is getting bad.

DS1: 39w1d 7lbs 8oz, 20.5", 14.5" head (plus his hand by his face at delivery)
    DS2: 39w5d 7lbs 9oz, 21", 14.5" head *my natural birth baby*
    DS3: 38w6d 6lbs 14oz, 19.5", 14" head
DS4: ?????? as of 35w5d estimated at 5lbs 14oz and his head was measuring a week ahead.

Welcome to your lodge (sorry I'm late to the party!). I hope you have another birth most similar to DS2!

I just realized tonight that I don't think I ever knew your real name before now! Can you tell us how you came up with your user name?

It's an old pet's name plus my birth year. I figured my parents accidentally called me by the pets' names often enough I could go by one online, too.

I have my next MW appointment Friday. I have to come up with some question about how labor will be handled in my situation. Here's what I have
when do I head to the hospital?
who is handling l&d (MW or OB)?
what precautions will we have to take during l&d? will there be matched blood on hand?
what part of l&d is riskiest with marginal previa?
Is the risk of cord prolapse/compression higher? If so, how will we minimize the risk?

    any other ideas?

What about questions about how they'll handle the baby after birth?

I don't know much about previa. But your questions look good. So you said there is a greater risk of hemmoraging with the previa? Is that why you are wondering about the matched blood? Will they give you a shot of pitocin to control bleeding?

I don't really know enough about previa to come up with anything more than that either, but I agree those all seem like good things to be aware of going in. The "what about baby" part is good too--like, if all is going well and there's no evidence of any rupture, can you still have immediate skin to skin, etc.

I imagine I'll get immediate skin-to-skin if the situation allows. Last time I even go to help lift the baby up to my chest.

Elizabeth - with previa the risk of hemorrhage prenatally, during delivery, and after delivery is a lot higher. I've been lucky so far to avoid any prenatal issues. The risk during delivery is why a lot of women end up with automatic c/s. As far as I can tell, I'll bleed during labor and they'll have to keep on eye on how much more than normal it is. If it gets to be too much I'll have an emergency c/s. I'll probably get pitocin (and who knows what else) after delivery to help with the bleeding. The lower part of the uterus, where my placenta ia attached, doesn't contract as well, so I'll likely bleed more after delivery, too.
I've been taking iron twice a day for months in preparation. Hopefully it'll help some.

ETA: I don't feel like this baby is going anywhere soon. People keep commenting that I look big and I'm due so soon, etc. I feel like I could keep going for a month or more, easily. I really don't have any of the "it's coming soon" feelings at all. I have been getting a lot of BH, but it's like that the whole pregnancy for me. He's not super low, although sometimes I feel him drop with a BH or if I walk a lot. He always pops back up, though.

For what it's worth, I feel exactly the same. Which makes sense since our EDDs are only a couple of days apart I find it interesting how different other people's perceptions are...there are some people who rant about how big and done-looking I am, and others who marvel at how small I am and they can't believe I'm full term. Guess that means it all means exactly squat.
