It went pretty well. Basically, as long as I don't have bleeding it's business as usual (with an IV placed once I get to the hospital). I can labor at home for a bit if I want. I can go naturally as long as things are going smoothly. It sounds like they will have some matched blood just in case, but hopefully we won't need it. And I'll be under the care of the MWs with the OB available at a moment's notice if needed. The hope is that baby's head will be low enough it will compress the edge of the placenta and prevent bleeding. I'm still nervous, but feeling a little better.
I'm measuring right on. Baby's active and his heart sounds great. Weight gain in great at 22lbs. The only thing, which is making me worry a tiny bit, is that my BP was higher than my normal at 122/72. I usually run closer to 105/60 at this point. And I had a trace of protein in my urine. They aren't worrying, but I hope it all stays normal. I've never had BP issues during pregnancy before (except for low BP).

ETA: I still have the option of a c/s if I start to freak out too much about labor under these circumstances. But... I know a c/s isn't risk-free, either. I figure if the doctor is so confident that I'll do okay at least trying, then I should be, too.

We have the same normal low BP (in fact mine at my last check was 96/65 or something like that) and I remember last pregnancy I had ONE oddly high reading in late pregnancy in the 120/70 range...DH was running late to the appointment that day, though, and I think I was just a little more stressed than usual. It was back down to my usual range by the next appointment and thereafter. I'd just chalk it up as an anomaly until proven otherwise.

Glad it sounds like things should be relatively normal for your birth...I'm so glad that the previa resolved enough to give you a real chance at another NCB!

The BP was around there this week and last (as was the trace protein). But, I went back and checked the records I kept from my other pregnancies, and this is actually normal for me. With all except DS3 my BP moved up to around 120/70 for the last month or so. With DS2 it almost hit 130/80 but then dropped again (maybe a stressful day?). So, no more worries about that.

BH are strong and 7 minutes apart this evening. I wonder if they're doing anything.

On a very different note, (TMI) I am so fed up with pelvic rest. It's been more than 4 months and, unless it's lifted at my next u/s, it'll probably end up being 6 months, total. I honestly think DH is taking it better than I am, somehow. I know it's worth it, but... I really just wish they'd lift it for a week or two before baby arrives. For some reason I always really want to DTD almost as soon as baby's out and with the way I tear (even if I avoid a c/s) it'll be another 3-4 weeks. It's bad enough without 5 months of pelvic rest leading up to it!

The pelvic rest? Of course! They won't clear me unless the placenta moves to at least 2cm away (hopefully they would then). It's just not worth the risk of bleeding. Sometimes it's hard to remember that, though.

The BH I never bother to ask about. I get them all the time. They've faded a bit. Now maybe every 15 minutes. I expect the pattern to continue for a few weeks.

Did your BH's slow down? 7 min apart was starting to sound like something. But you still have a couple more weeks of baking to do with that little guy.

Hope the placenta moves so you get to DTD before you pop.

So are your boys excited about their new brother? Will the sleeping arrangements change in your house? Or will the baby sleep in your room for awhile?

umm probably TMI but pelvic rest doesn't mean you can't enjoy yourselves!

Glad that they are being cautious but going to let you labor and hopefully have the birth you want!

True, but after 4+ months it gets kind of old, you know?

Elizabeth - I get BH closely and regularly throughout pregnancy. I've had them 5 minutes apart for over an hour as early as 20w. It's just how my body does things. They are starting to change in the past week. I've gotten to the ones which feel halfway between BH and real. I'm hoping they do a little bit of preparation for me. I loved being at 2-3cm before labor with DS2. It made it so much easier.

Baby has been really low in the evenings. Painfully low. That's good. I need him down there to help press on the edge of the placenta. It also decreases the risk that the cord will get in the way (slightly higher risk because the placenta is so low).

I'm a bit late to this party...have been lurking but not posting. Just wanted to say welcome to your lodge. So happy for you that you are getting a chance to birth naturally! Best wishes for a smooth L&D with no complications. I look forward to following along here.
